What if you could pick how many babies you got pregnant with? How many would you pick?
I've had two single births but I've always dreamed of having twins. So if I could pick for my next pregnancy if I have another I would want twins!

WHAT?! You girls are crazy! One at a time, please! My daughter is enough energy. I can't imagine another one just like her running around at the same time... not napping. Emptying out my cupboards.
NOPE NOPE NOPE!

Definitely would never choose twins - the high risk pregnancy is enough to turn me off.

@mrsrugbee: I second this - you girls are crazy! I'm a mom of twins and it is the best, but still. Y'all are crazy. Enjoy your singletons! One to figure out eating and sleeping and only a single sized stroller to push!

For a first pregnancy, twins! But I only want 2 total, so only singleton next time please.

I would only want one! I find one to be a little overwhelming so I'm not sure if I'm cut out for multiples. I find them fascinating though!

one at a time! there are a lot of twins in my life, they have such a special bond with each other and it's really a beautiful thing. as someone who has spent so much time caring for other people's children, i look forward to the day when i can enjoy my own children and do things my way, with twins you have to make choices based on survival, not enjoyment, you make it through those first couple years, but it's hard to slow down enough to really soak it in and enjoy it, i want a chance to do that, to be slow and intentional and enjoy it as much as i can. twins are so much fun and amazing, it's just not something i would wish for myself.

One is plenty, but before I had a kid I would have said twins. Now I want to slap Past Me.

Just one. My friend has twins and says she wishes she had more time to hold and cuddle each baby, especially when they were infants.

I used to think twins would be so exciting, but it turns out one is more than enough for me.

Twins would mean I get my three babies since I will never convince DH to have more than 2 but I shudder at the idea of a toddler and 2 babies so I am going to just say one.

@AprilFool: thats the situation we are in. I would go for 1. But we got a huge surprise with twins. My son will be 22 months when they come. (I'm 19 weeks) I keep freaking out but feel very blessed to get a bonus baby

@BabyMats: Congrats! You'll do great. I would be freaking out but excited too.

While we were TTC we were really kind of hoping for twins, but I recognize that there are SO many factors involved that just make me glad we were blessed with one (so far). Financially, mentally, giving baby enough attention...etc, etc. I know people do it (& are amazing for that!), but one at a time really is probably best.

One at a time for me, especially now that I already have one!!

@mrs. bird: I don't know, in the past I nannied for two sets of twins (at different times) - one set from 6 - 24 mo and the other from 9 mo - 18 mo. So I don have experience with twin newborns, or older toddlers or preschools, but I really loved twins at those ages. Maybe it would have been different if they were my own, but I felt like I had enough time to love on both of them and it never felt like we were just surviving (ok, yes, some days... But I could say that now with just one at times). I felt like taking care of twins was a better use of my time than just taking care of one... some things did feel like double the work, but lots of things I was already doing anyway and it didn't seem like that much more work to do it for a second baby.
@BabyMats: you will do great!

@78h2o: I nannied a pair of bad sleepers between 6-10 mo and I found it was quite grating. There was always somebody fighting a nap and I could tell the parents could barely keep their heads above water. They had an older son that was pretty much getting raised by the TV while they both tended to the babies.

Twins for me! I wanted twins in high school but I knew it was impossible and was a pipe dream (and reality was crazy). Now that I'm doing IVF and a have a chance of having dream, I'm so excited. Though, I know it will be incredibly hard if I do have multiples.

Since me and pregnancy don't get along, it would be nice to get two for the price of one, but a high risk pregnancy scares me.

@MrsHansen82: Doing IUI or IVF? DH and I have thought about the 2 for 1 special. Also, being able to catch up to my friends who have 2 LOs already.

@bluestriped bee: No IF treatments, I just really dislike being pregnant. Like if I could knock it out in one go, it would be nice.

Just a singleton for me although I love twins.
We have quite a few in the family and I have had a lot of experience looking after twins part time while I was at Uni.
In NZ if you have a singleton then twins you are entitled to so many free hours of help which is what I got hired for. Only prob is I got so attached to the babies! I stayed with each family for between 6-9 months, working whenever it fit in with my uni schedule - on days off or all days during semester break and days I had classes I would go after that so I would be there 3-7pm ish to help with bath & bedtime routines etc.
The first family I worked for had twins, and when I finished up with them they recommended me to another family through their multiple birth club and then they recommended me to a family with triplets!
