Ideally, contractions would start gently at night while I sleep, close to the EDD. A nice quiet easing into labor.

Lol I'd love to go into labor any day starting...yesterday I think 10/11/12 would be a good birthday too (EDD is 10/17....currently 37w2d). I'd like to start having contractions in the afternoon and have my water break in the hospital.

I will speak in past tense

My EDD was February 29/March 1, 2012. If I'd had it my way I would have gone into labor at just over 37 weeks (I was SO SO SO uncomfortable and had lots of contractions those last two weeks), and given birth on Valentines day

I would start with contractions, labor at home for a couple hours and then go to my birth center, where I would progress quickly and give birth in the water

I was REALLY disappointed I couldn't have a birth center birth or labor/birth in the water.

@hilsy85: Haha well my hospital doesn't offer private recovery rooms so I've got nothing to lose LOL. I do think it'll probably be pretty busy though! I'd love to go into labor naturally before that!

If I could have chosen? I was due March 28th and I totally would have had her come on the 17th so she could be a St. Patty's baby. I think I would have chosen my water breaking dramatically somewhere. Haha. That's pretty much what happened, but I would have gone into labor on my own if I had chosen.

I'm due on October 16, and would (in an ideal world) like to have Emma anytime between today and October 6. The rationale being that the 8th is Canadian Thanksgiving, and I think that would be an awesome holiday introduction for her to the grandparents!

I'd like to have SROM at home (so I can change, etc.), spend a couple of hours in active labor with our doula at the house, go into the hospital too far dialated for them to be shoving an IV into my collapsing veins/pushing pain meds on me, and pushing out a baby under 10 pounds (highly unlikely, but I can dream!).

Yeah, if I could go back in time, I think it's funny that I was in labor at Mt Vernon--that's cool. But I wouldn't have gone to the hospital until it was like... "Oh shoot, someone call 9-1-1; we waited too long!"

Of course if that happens next time .... be careful what you wish for. Haha.

I didn't know that you didn't have to go to the hospital when your water broke. Oops.

I would love contractions to start before my water breaks next time, but I was happy it happened at home in bed as opposed to at work!! She came at 37w2d and that was a little earlier than expected, but it was nice not to have to wait and wait for her.

I REALLY wanted a July baby, so I wish I had gone into labor at least 8-9 days earlier than I did. I was fine with when I went into labor...I labored all day and into the night, and went to the hospital around 1am, then again at 3am. No traffic and the hospital was pretty empty (at least compared to the billion people who are there during the day).

I kind of wish my water had broken somewhere in public...dramatically, like zippylef rather than it being broken for my by two residents at 9cm.

There are a few huge things I would have changed about my labor and delivery experience, but I was okay with how it started.

Well, I kept saying my ideal would be to wake up in labor at like 4 or 5 am (so I could have gotten some sleep) and still probably have the baby before the next night. I also didn't want my water to break until I was obviously in active labor. I also kept saying the one time I didn't want to go into labor was at the end of the day right before bed, since then I'd likely be up all night.

When did I go into labor? 10 pm. LO was born just before 7 am. At least I got my wish on my water not breaking - they had to rupture it for me when I reached 10 cm!

I'd love to go about 10 days early, or right on my due date. My doctor is out of town for Thanksgiving week (my due date is November 26) so I wouldn't mind having her early while he's still available, or having her come right on my due date. I know family will be anxious to meet Baby Girl, so if she's not early, we'd love for her to come on her due date (and my doctor will be back!).

I think @mrs. wagon: has it just right. Wake up refreshed and ready to push.
I'm due January 5th and would be fine delivering any day after New Years except January 7th (MIL's b-day) or January 8th (mean aunt's b-day).

@Mrsdaredevil: um, the fact that that is my EXACT fantasy makes me ashamed. A girl can wish, can't she?

First and foremost: My house better be clean or else i'll REFUSE to go.
Then--I'd like to go on a Monday (like in 4 days at 38&3)). That way by the time friends and family drive down over the weekend, the baby will be 5-7 days old. I'd like to be very dilated by the time I reach the hospital but NOT to miss my epidural. That's all!
Oh and since we're dreamin'.....no tears, no cuts, no stitches!

Ideally between weeks 39-41, contractions start in the morning after a good night's rest, water doesn't break until I'm 9cm or something (because they hurt way more after it broke last time). Deliver later that day in the hospital (but transfer almost at the last minute).

Actually for the next one I would really like for my water *not* to break and to have the baby born inside the sac. That would be really cool!

Any day the second or third wk of Nov (due 11/18) and I'd like to go naturally.... but I'm not against an epidural either! LOL

ideally, she would arrive around her due date, but not on the 23rd (i'm due january 15th). i have projects i'd like to do after the new year and the 23rd is my sister, and two of my good friends' birthdays and DH has his only test of the month that day!

i'd like to labor at home as long as possible to give DH a chance to be with me in case he's OOT and then get to the hospital and be close to complete! i'm hoping for an all natural birth, so i REALLY don't want to be induced.
