I had a few short bouts of contractions in the week leading up, but very rarely had BH. I could tell when I started having real contractions, but they felt like menstrual cramps for a long time.

With DD I never had any BH. The day before my due date, I noticed some super mild cramps but didn't think anything of them. I was sure they weren't contractions as I barely noticed them if I wasn't actively paying attention. My mom suggested I time them to see if there was a pattern and sure enough, they were roughly 14 minutes apart. They kept up with that frequency and started getting a tiny bit stronger a few hours later. I was woken up very early the next morning with proper contractions and it was real labour! DD arrived that night!

I'd time them to see if there's any kind of a pattern but yes, contractions generally do start out feeling like mild period cramps. Good luck!

I never had BH....at 39 weeks had period type cramps, about 6 hours later my water broke!

My BH felt nothing like period cramps. Once the period cramps started though, LO was on her way. Sounds promising! Best of luck.
