Could you tell right away you were having contractions when you did go into labor?
I'm 39 weeks, no BH and I've had a couple of intense period like cramps. Just wondering if I'm having contractions as I literally have no idea what contractions feel like.

I had a few short bouts of contractions in the week leading up, but very rarely had BH. I could tell when I started having real contractions, but they felt like menstrual cramps for a long time.

I was apparently having BH but couldn't feel them. I could tell when I started having real contractions because they came in waves.

With DD I never had any BH. The day before my due date, I noticed some super mild cramps but didn't think anything of them. I was sure they weren't contractions as I barely noticed them if I wasn't actively paying attention. My mom suggested I time them to see if there was a pattern and sure enough, they were roughly 14 minutes apart. They kept up with that frequency and started getting a tiny bit stronger a few hours later. I was woken up very early the next morning with proper contractions and it was real labour! DD arrived that night!
I'd time them to see if there's any kind of a pattern but yes, contractions generally do start out feeling like mild period cramps. Good luck!

I didn't have BH. I went into labor early in the morning (like 3am)...the cramping was so uncomfortable and I couldn't sleep and the cramping just wouldn't go away. Like everyone said the cramping would come in waves and I started timing them...and the interval between the cramping got shorter...I think we left for the hospital when they were 4 minutes apart which was around 7am

I never had BH....at 39 weeks had period type cramps, about 6 hours later my water broke!

My BH felt nothing like period cramps. Once the period cramps started though, LO was on her way. Sounds promising! Best of luck.

I never felt my BH and was induced so I didn't have that initial feeling of "are these contractions?" However, once I started to feel the early contractions, I remember making the comment that I probably wouldn't have known that they were contractions if they were happening naturally.
