How did it go when "unlimited screen time" was over?
DD (17 mo) is being a little screen time monster (not TV, but YouTube videos). I feel so bad that I created the monster but at the same time some days I really just can't, being in the thick of 1st trimester.

We did for one or two days when she was really sick and it took two weeks before she'd stop asking for it constantly. It sucked. Normally we don't do any, so we just went back to that cold turkey.

We used to play a lot of youtube videos through the TV for our little one when he was around that age, and there were times he got unlimited when he was sick back around Christmas/January. He was definitely a little tv monster/tantrums galore when we turned it off, or refused to turn it on. It got bad, so we just tried our best to cut out the TV during the week, and now that the weather is nice, we get outside a lot more.
All that to say, at 22 months, he is 100% ok when we turn the tv off. we will say, "ok it's time to..." and he says bye bye and waves bye to the TV. I think it honestly is an age thing. He couldn't handle it at 16/17/18mo when we turned it off, but he is "mature" enough to move on at 22 months. Doesn't matter how much or little we watch, he is ok with it.

When DS1 has been sick he gets a lot. It's very hard to go back to a limited screen time routine though.
Honestly after giving so much screen time to my first at a young age, and them having him tantrum for it / have boundary issues with it (mostly around age 2), I'm really trying to limit R's screen time. He's also 17m and I try not to turn on the TV specifically for him.

I think it's an age thing also. Now if LO whines for more videos, I say, just 1 more ok? And wait for her to say "yes", then show her a short clip and say "all done". She will start whining, and asking for more, but then I remind her that we said only 1 more, and she'll be fine.
LO is 20 months now. I think 17 months might still be too young to understand limits.

@snowjewelz: the tantrums don't end! Just keep trying to communicate limits to her, and I think eventually they will start to understand little by little.
