i've been to a few ladies-only baby showers, but i can't remember if the dad is usually there too. i want my DH to be there with me, partially to deflect some attention during the gift-opening portion. will that be weird if he's the only guy?

The ones that I have been to are just women, with the father showing up around gift time to thank everyone & then help load everything into the car.

I haven't had my shower, but at every one I've been to, the dad is there for a few minutes at the beginning and end. So everyone says congrats, etc, but he isn't there for all the festivities. I would think he'd feel kind of uncomfortable with a whole bunch of ladies and just him?

My DH hung out with a few of the husbands in the basement. He came up to play one game and he made sure to say bye and thank everyone when they left. He's well-trained!

Like PPs said, my DH was there for a few minutes at the beginning and end. I invited him to be there the entire time, but he wasn't comfortable being the lone male!

For my family/friends shower, my husband came at the end to say hello and thank you. His mom and sister were there so he had to see them, too. Our clients and employees had a shower for me too, but he was basically there the whole time for that one because it's his company and it just felt like the right thing. That one was mostly women (really only women were invited) but a bunch of men showed up so it worked out nicely

I wanted DH to come by at the end and say 'thank you', see some of the relatives, etc., but he was working that weekend.

I attended two ladies only recently. One did not have the father at all attend. Two- the dad showed up with a pal just to say hi.

My husband showed up at the end of both of my baby showers. He got fed at my family one in addition to loading up the car.

My DH came to help load up the gifts and that was his way of saying hi to the guests (his family shower only though) and this is the way it has always been.

Just me! I've never been to a shower where the husband is present

There was no way I was dragging DH to an all ladies party LOL. I have been to shower's where men and women were invited. If I were to have another shower, I would go that route. I hated opening up all the gifts in front of everyone!

I don't think DH will want to be at the shower. I might be able to convince him to come pick up presents but we'll see.

DH went off with my dad and uncle to go bowling and just showed up at the end to load gifts into the car.

The hubs and his pals (along with his dad-- the shower was at my ILs' house) went out drinking and came back toward the end to load up gifts. I wouldn't want him to suffer through the shower with me with a bunch of women.

DH, FIL, my dad, and a few uncles (?) were inside for the food, hung out on the deck during games, and came back in to open gifts.
I wanted a co-ed shower, but we couldn't find a place that could hold that many of people without spending hundreds of dollars.

"It's only weird if you make it weird," said the only dude at the ladies only baby shower.

Just me, he went for a guys breakfast while we had a brunch for the girls.
It wasn't a typical shower since it was out of town at the hotel the morning after a family wedding. It was our only chance to get the family together in one place, I loved it because we kept it small with just the people I love.
