What age did you get your first one?
I was 9! And at 12 I saved up my money to buy another one (they were only $65 or $70 at the time). I played with them until I was a young teen - I loved them so much!

I was given a Bitty Baby around 7 or 8 years old. Later when I was maybe 11(?) they came out with the design-your-own American Girl (do they still do this?) and my mom surprised me with one who looked just like me. I named her Lauren
I played with dolls probably waaay too long, but I always loved them.

I received Samantha when I was 7 for Christmas. Addy was introduced in 1993, so I received her when I was 10 or 11.

I got a bitty baby when I was 6 or 7, and I saved up and got Felicity when I was 10 or so. Felicity was my favorite! So sad that they retired her.

I was 7 I think. I got the catalog when there were only three dolls Kirsten, Samantha and Molly. I used to love looking at the catalogs. I got Kirsten and my sister got Molly. I really like the historic dolls but all the others I am sort of indifferent to. For the expense I would prefer getting the time period dolls I hope Lilly likes them.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Ahhh, I had Felicity too! I got her when I was around 8 - and I remember she had a pink dress that came with an apron you had to pin on with straight pins and I never failed to draw blood.

I think I got Samantha when I was about 8 and Felicity when I was about 10. I can't wait to pass them on to DD, but I really wish I'd gotten all the outfits and accessories before they retired them. I didn't even know they were doing that

I asked my mom for Samantha and she told me that if I saved up enough for half, she'd pay the rest. I scrimped and saved and worked and saved up enough for my half plus more!! She was so proud and let me order the accessory set as well (hat, purse, etc). She's still in perfect condition and on lmw's shelf.
