Well we rent, so it would have to be our bedroom/office.
What about you?

The largest upstairs bedroom, which we would convert into a massive master suite.

Kitchen. It's on my list (and has been for a few years) and will hopefully be accomplished next year - with a reasonable budget rather than sky's-the-limit though.

Right now in our house, our kitchen if perfect, it was recently remodeled before we bought it, so I wouldn't change a thing! But right now, our bathroom is very old looking (think pink tiles on the walls old.....litterally...pink tiles!!) So I would remodel our bathroom in a heart beat!

Definitely the kitchen! Our new place was built in 1980 and hasn't been updated since. I would love to demo and redo the kitchen.

I think Kitchen, I really want granite counter tops and I would maybe get new cabinets too. Everything is pretty new yet so thats the only thing I would really want to change.

@Rescuemom10: Agreed on the cabinets! Mine are really narrow, I would love wider ones!

The inside of our house is updated so I'd want to make-over the outside of our house (so this doesn't fairly answer your question, lol) but we would: redo the siding (it's yellow vinyl right now), paint the house (a modern dark grey) and fresh white trim, pave the driveways, finish half of our lot--we're on a little more than a half acre and only half is landscaped. We'd probably put in a new fence, big play area and a lounge/fire pit as well.
Listing this makes me think of everything we need to do before we sell the house!

Kitchen, just because it's so expensive to do those. I actually love our kitchen, but it could be upgraded.

Oh man, I don't know how I would choose! I guess, like some other bees said, the kitchen because it would likely be the most expensive room to makeover and we definitely want to gut it sometime in the next 5 years or so. But our entire downstairs also needs to be gutted and needs a lot more work before it's usable.

The master suite. It's fine as-is but there are soooo many things I would like to do to it. We have a ginormous closet (10x10) that I would love to Elpha, a bathroom with a useless garden tub and a 4x4 window that people can see right into.
I'd love to put a screened-in porch on the outside of the master, put in trey ceilings with lights, add a fireplace to the unused area we stare at each night as we go to sleep. I'd replace the cabinets in the bathroom with higher quality and drawers and tile the entire tub/shower area after upgrading the tub to a deeper jet tub. Mmm. So many things to do in our Master Suite!!

Do they count as one room if the kitchen and living room are part of an open floor plan?
With the house we're in the process of buying, those are the rooms we'd most like to upgrade for resale value; replace the kitch/lr flooring with hardwood, install built-in shelves around the living room fireplace, redo the construction-grade kitchen cabinets, install nice countertops, and completely rework the awkward kitchen island.

Our kitchen, I would knock down the wall betwen the kitchen and dining room for starters, then redo our kitchen cabinets/counters.

KITCHEN! Ours hasn't been updated since the 70s, probably earlier. Well, the appliances are newer (within the last decade, I'd say) but the cabinets and counters are horrible. I'm desperate to redo them.

So hard to choose! My first thought was the Master bathroom or suite. Then reading other people's answers I agree that the outside of our house needs a make over. We have asbestos siding that is a horrible brown/olive color and we should replace it. I'd also love to build a deck in the front of the house. If all else fails, the basement!

It'd be either our kitchen or master suite bc like @joyjoy:, our house was built in 1982 and retains all its original components. We have absolutely no closet space in our master suite and our sinks are pinky marble shaped into sea shells. Our kitchen's laminate countertops permanently absorb any ink from plastic bags and the cabinets are blah with different fixtures.

I would say our basement, I would love to build a wet bar and make it more entertainment friendly!

Master bath - I would love to take out our teeny tiny shower and unused garden tub and make a huge steam shower.

My kitchen. It's so outdated. It still has wallpaper and Formica countertops. We have lots of plans for it.

If in this fantasy I could add sq footage, our kitchen! But our rental was all rebuilt within the last 3 years, so it's all very up to date. If I could redecorate/repurpose one room it would be our office/junk room, and I'd make into a kick ass nursery! And because I'm fantasizing, I'd be pregnant already;)

we rent, it would be our living room. It's a small somewhat awkward space and it was hard for me to design, and I don't even like how it looks. BUT we'll be moving sometime this year.. so idk

Kitchen! I would make it bigger, new cabinets, new flooring, new countertops, add an island, etc.

We would love to pour a bunch of money into doing our basement up into a really functional playroom with a bedroom and bathroom attached! It may be a little ways off, but we're going to do it!
