If you had a short cervix, when was it discovered? Just curious.

i don't have one, but they did check for one at my 20 weel anatomy scan (after the scan of the fetus, they did a transvaginal to check my anatomy).

@lioneyes: they checked mine at 20 weeks as well. Not currently an issue.

I don't have one, but have struggled with bleeding and pre-term labor since 27 weeks. They have checked my cervix each time I've had an ultrasound (which is often). It was the first thing they did when I came into the ER at 35 weeks bleeding.

I don't have one, but have a friend that's dealt with it. Her practice does a quick ultrasound at every appointment, plus she was high-risk in a previous pregnancy so they have extra appointments for ANY issue (preterm labor at 22-23 weeks). She started having some contractions this time at, I think, 24 weeks and they found her cervix was a little short when they checked it out. It corrected itself by 30. So, I don't know if they would have particularly focused on that had she not had the contractions this time.

@Weagle: I'm on progesterone because LO born early. Im not sure if I had cervix issue or not. I didn't have pre term labor, my water broke at 34 weeks.

@littlek: I think you could certainly push for a check as you get a bit closer to that if you don't have a definitive answer as to why B came early. I'd definitely ask about it, at the least.

21 weeks here. I went in for a second anatomy scan to check on other issues and the doctor noticed it was on the shorter side. It was about 2.5cm at that time and stayed around 2-2.5cm until 30 weeks. At 34 weeks it shortened to .3-.9cm. Babies still hanging out at 37+ weeks so apparently it wasn't a pre term labor issue for me.
