Wow, I hadn't thought of this.

Our first apartment was in Nelson House, but I can't see us naming a son or even a daughter Nelson. My cousin has a dog by that name! And the province- Manitoba- doesn't really sound like a name for ANY kid.

Our city and province don't really sound like good names for anybody- Dartmouth and Nova Scotia. Although, Nova might make a cute middle name for a girl if we ever moved away...

We may end up moving to Alberta, but we already have an acquaintance by that name, and wouldn't want her to think we'd named our baby for her.

The school we met at- Eric Graves- could be a name, but I can't see us using that name.

I'd be interested in hearing from Bees who HAVE named their kids for special places.

Georgia! My husband grew up in Georgia. I also like Nola--because I love New Orleans.

Brooklyn is special to us, but we're not fans of the name.

I like Bristol as a name. But that will never happen.

@junebugmama: my friends just named their daughter London. I used to live in London and it never occurred to me to use it as a name but I think it is super cute now that I know a baby London!

My hubby and I loved traveling to Italy and France. Some good possibilities there I'm sure. Hmmmm, he proposed to me close to Florence, but that just makes me think of Nightingale ...

i like the name mason, but that's gaining in popularity. and i already know at least 2 masons.

i think lois (for long island) is not the name for my daughter.

i think i would name my daughter venice. no way my hubby would go for that.

@mrsjazz: one of my college friends just named his daughter Nola.

@AmeliaBedelia: that's my street name. Didn't know it was associated with France.

My mom's name is : France (not a city but country)
But I always liked Sydney for a girl

Savannah because that's where we went on our honeymoon.

Charlotte, though not because it's a place name. And I've considered variants of Marilyn (my grandma's name.) I like the idea of Calais. Tucson (with a nickname of Tuck) doesn't sound too bad... for someone else. I guess I just don't care for place names.

@MRSJAZZ: Nola is our dog (my avatar). DH and I decided that we wanted to get married (someday) when we were visiting New Orleans.

Yeah, I don't have kids yet so I talk about my dog. haha.

I'm totally down with place names, but only if they sound like name names. I'm not planning on having a daughter named Hoboken any time soon.

Venice...we conceived her there! We gave her an Italian middle name instead.

I think Venice would have worked if there was never a Paris Hilton...or one in CA.

I'd probably go with where she was concieved. Jensen. (Beach )

Probably Adelaide, Sydney or Victoria. Oh or Tasman.
Adelaide because I was born there, Sydney because I live there, Victoria because I've never been but want to, Tasman because it's a family name.

@mrbee: I know a girl whose name is Flor (she's hispanic) and she complains that no once pronounces it correctly. She says it's really pretty when said right but most people pronounce it like "floor" and she hates that, so she goes by her middle name.
