In my next job, the possibility of creating a flex or alternative schedule is something I am definitely looking for. I would love to be able to work a condensed week! If you had your pick, what would you choose?

I voted "come in early and leave in the early afternoon." At my last job (which I will hopefully return to, once we move back), I worked 7am-3pm and I LOVED it. I hate leaving my bed in the morning, but once I'm actually up, I'm good to go! It was lovely to have the afternoon to do as I pleased.

i voted come in early and leave early only because the days are so short! i actually worked 20 hours, 3 days a week and while it was GREAT having 2 days off (making the weekends nice and long), the other days were SO LONG! lol.

I have both opened and closed at work. I think I prefer closing because I am off by 730 but I get to sleep in. And I still get time with the hubs.

ten hour days that you come in early and leave early. I am an early bird and would have preferred that. if you are a night owl than go in later but the day off every week is fantastic.

My son is awake at 5 am, so I'd just go in early. Befoe he was born though, I'd have said a 4 day week.

With a child, come in early, leave early. Without a child., 4 day work week.

I chose come in early, leave early. I actually had that schedule for a while and it was great. I was able to come into the office and get a lot of work done without interruption, before the rest of the office showed up at 8. It was a little frustrating when "emergencies" would come up towards the time that I needed to leave because that almost always meant I would have to stay later.

I prefer the 6-2pm. Because that way you still technically have the whole day ahead of you when you get out of work!
You can run errands, getting out at 5pm sucks because EVERYTHING else closes at 5pm. You can't do any errands!!!
That being said....I actually am considering asking for 4 ten hour days with 1 day off after maternity leave to stay full time....

My husband can work whenever, as long as he does 8 hour days. He goes in early and comes home early. I love it! He has plenty of time to hang out with LO and me, and he gives me a little break when he gets home which is much needed.

I'm a teacher and work 7 to 3:30. I'd love 6 to 2:30.LOL I'd rather get it on over with, than drag it out for the rest of the day.

Right now I do 6 to 230 and love it. Little boy goes to sleep around 6-7 so if I worked 9-5 I'd never see him! Plus I have a long commute so it helps with traffic.

It's interesting to see what all of you would prefer, especially taking kiddos into consideration. I agree that it would be awesome to go in early and still have a whole day when you're done, but realistically I just don't think I could. I have a hard enough time going to work at 9am!
I would really love to do a condensed work week, and have every Friday or every other Friday off. I'm not sure how that would work with a LO though. Obviously, you get extra days with them, and you don't to pay for as much childcare. But if you're getting home after 7pm, on your work days you barely get to see your LO!

Pre-baby, I come in late and leave late. When I have a LO, I'm thinking it would be great if I could work 4 days out of the week. I'm not an early bird but the in early/ out early, so sound nice.
