$200/ mo that includes Boot Camp 4x/ week. Mine is independently owned.
DH pays $11/ mo at his chain gym- he goes there to use the weights.

Way too much, considering I've gone like 3 times in my entire pregnancy. It was worth it when I went more often though-- $100 a month. It's all girls, clean, has lots of classes, and is overall a pretty pleasant experience. But it's been a total waste while pregnant and I'm cancelling this month.

$30 and I think thats too much considering the gym doesn't offer anything else to go along with it..Most classes are extra..There is no tanning (I know, I know baddd!) and the hours are kinda limited.
nectarine / 2765 posts
$29 a month per person (so x2 for DH & I both). It includes classes, which is what I utilize most.

$32 a month for DH and I both - its owned by the city gov't that DH works for so its discounted. Its not *the* closest gym to us (about 8-10 min away when we have one right outside our neighborhood) but I love the classes and the pool!

Phew! That's so much money! I must be really cheap! I'm debating about joining a gym, and they offer 2 memberships....only for $9.99/month and one for 19.99/month.

$40 per month for me and SO. It includes any/all classes we want to take, but there is no pool.

@Foodnerd81: is it completely man free or do they have men that work there? DH was offered a job at a club in out in metro west that their big thing was being all women, but apparently they hire sexy male trainers... gag. DH was not allowed to take that position! =D
ours is $60 i think, not positive though.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@MrsBrewer: That sounds like the membership packages at DH's gym BLAST.
As long as you go 10-20-100 or more is not a waste of money. Eat right too to see results.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@mrs. bird: They do have male trainers! I actually thought that was a little weird, since I would have thought an all female gym would appeal to people who have religious or cultural limits on what they can wear in front of men, but that wouldn't help if there are a handful of male trainers.
I didn't think any of the trainers were particularly sexy-- I mean, in good shape, yeah, but no one that I was drooling over! I bet it's the same company though-- smaller local chain?

@IRunForFun: No, but they bought out the Gold's around here. It's called Xperience Fitness. I think it's pretty similar though, they have standard cardio and weights for the 9.99/month and then if you upgrade to the 19.99/month you get classes, pool, sauna, tanning included!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I know! that's so true! I have to admit, I'm sitting here eating sliced yellow peppers and carrot sticks! Watching my eating really is my #1 right now!

We pay $20 a month. It's crazy cheap. We went with the plan with the biggest down payment, but low monthly payments and they won't change through the lifetime of our membership.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@MrsBrewer: Oh whoops, I forgot Gold's got bought out, around here too. It's Vent Fitness now, but they kept the packages the same. I have the $19.99/month one. The branch I go to is under construction and they are adding a pool. But I highly suggest doing the $19.99 plan that includes classes. The classes are pretty awesome, especially if you have trouble motivating yourself to work out alone, or if you aren't sure what type of workout to do. They give you a bunch of guest passes when you join, too, so you could bring a friend to some of the classes till you feel more comfortable!
I love Body Pump! And spin classes!

@Foodnerd81: is it weird to say DH is a hottie? and he was my personal trainer when we first hooked up, scandalous =P i thought it was super weird to have men working at the women only gym (where we met was coed though). i think it then becomes not avoiding men within the gym, but a power thing where the men there are only allowed when they are in a supporting role to the women.
coconut / 8854 posts
@IRunForFun: Truthfully, I've never even taken a class at a gym before! But I've been wanting to!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@mrs. bird: For me, I liked that I didn't feel like a giant wimp when I got the lighter weights-- and indeed, they had more than one pair of each of the lighter weights unlike my previous gym (thanks, BSC). And girls usually don't smell as bad then they get really sweaty. Sorry to any men on here
pomelo / 5509 posts
@MrsBrewer: They can be fun, and I think they push you to work harder since you don't want to be embarrassed and it's easier to slack off on your own. I have friends that belong to the same gym and going to classes together then going out for coffee is great. Maybe see if you have any friends that want to be gym buddies!

19.99 a month for golds gym express. It includes tanning, massage chairs and a buddy pass everytime I go. So basically 20 for my husband and I.
bananas / 9628 posts
@Foodnerd81: oh i'm all for women only gyms! i've gone to a few & loved them. i just think it's an odd choice for a company that is supposed to be supporting women to not hire women as trainers and to hire men instead, but then not allow the men to work out as members. it's those parts that get me
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@mrs. bird: Oh weird! No, my gym has more female trainers than male. That's really weird to ONLY hire men. I wouldn't be cool with that either.
The men do get a free membership somewhere else, to make up for the fact that they can't work out at the gym they work at, while the female trainers just get a free membership at this gym.

Ours was $73 a month after tax and that was for both of us. The prices are now $100 plus tax for two people so we are trying to get them to match what we paid before

I pay $10/month for my work gym (which I almost never use when pregnant, but I like the option, plus they have showers that I use if I"m coming straight from my OTHER gym), and I pay $150/month for Crossfit. DH uses the gyms at his workplace and there's no fee for that.

I see a lot of 3months for $99 promotions! Or the YMCA is a good option and your health insurance usually give discounts as well.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
$155/month for Crossfit. The barre gym is $100/month for new members plus childcare is 10 visits for $35.

I pay $60/month for me and my husband. That's cheap around here though. Most gyms are around $50-80 per person/month!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
$70/month at the YMCA for a family of three - and that's a discounted price!
You get use of the pool, fitness room, free weights, a plethora of classes and daycare is included (max 2 hrs/day).
In the summer the splash deck is also open.

$130/month for crossfit. My membership is currently on hold though until I can get back to working out.
papaya / 10473 posts
@blackbird: @hergreenapples: I'm so jealous of what you pay for Crossfit! Here it starts at $265 a month and goes up to $707 a month if you want unlimited sessions rather than just a few days a week. DH has resorted to a makeshift gym in our neighbor's garage for WODs
pear / 1837 posts
@grizz: Good God, that's insane. When I was in Atlanta, I paid $125/month for unlimited Crossfit, so I thought $150/month for 9 classes was a lot when I moved to Maryland, but I've never heard of prices like the ones you're talking about! That's practically like having another kid in daycare.
papaya / 10473 posts
@Lozza: Seriously! I'm hoping that with other gyms opening up around town it'll get more competitive and drive the prices down. They used to start at $330!
