I looked and there might be incidences where PCOS is hereditary. My sister is now TTC and I'm thinking I should let her know that I have been diagnosed it. Tell her dr to test her hormone and insulin levels.

Yes, one sister has been diagnosed, and the other is young (and years away from worrying about her fertility) but has already had irregular cycles and a ruptured cyst. I'm not sure where it came from - my parents had five kids, and my dad's one of ten - but we're 3 for 3 of the girls in our family with ob-gyn issues.

My mom and sister both have cysts on their ovaries, but don't have PCOS. My cousin has PCOS as well.

Two of my aunts have it (moms sisters) and a cousin (moms side) has it.

My sister has PCOS, but she is the only one in my family. But, also, her doctor thinks it was self-inflicted (she has had extreme ED periods that have really messed with her hormones, digestive and reproductive
).
EVERY SINGLE woman in my maternal line has endometriosis. I feel really bad for my sister because she has the double whammy (although I have no idea whether she will try to have kids).

PCOS is hard, because there are multiple markers and you have some of them it means you have PCOS. So PCOS for one person isn't necessarily the same for another. Or you could have one of the markers and not technically have PCOS (say, just cysts). So I think it could be hereditary for some symptoms.
I'm adopted so no idea if anyone I'm "related" to has it

@kjpugs: yeah, I told my sister all of that. PCOS is and can be very different for people who have it.

@bluestriped bee: I hope the info helps her!
I've also become THAT woman who looks for signs of PCOS. I had a work friend having trouble TTC and it took everything in me not to ask her if she had it!!!!!!! That's so rude of me to "symptom judge" but my diagnosis - for me at least - was a blessing in helping me get KU!
