People in my family have already said oh its OK, just try for a third. It'll be a boy. *rolleyes*
But in reality we might try for a third and part of the reason for me is for a boy. I feel a self imposed obligation to have a boy to continue the the family line. No boys in DH side yet and we're the last to have kids!

No one has asked me! Maybe bc I make it crystal clear how exhausted I am!

Agreed! I never pictured myself having more than one, and two as the MAX. Now that I'm pregnant with our second, I still do not have any desire to have more than two. If this baby turns out to also be a boy, I'll be thrilled just the same.

Strangers do...but anyone who knows me and my history know not to ask.

I kindly remind them that my parents kept trying for just one more, and they ended up with 5 girls. I am happy with two boys.

DD#2 is only two weeks old, but it's a running joke between my husband and I that we're going to try for a little brother for our girls, and end up having twin girls. He mentions this so often that I think it's what he's secretly wishing for....he's said before he might like four kids, whereas I'd be more than happy with three, so maybe it's his master plan to wind up with more.

Would I LIKE to have a boy now that I have two girls? Sure, but I also wouldn't be disappointed to get to give the tutus and ruffles one last go.

No one is pressuring us for a boy specifically, but people asked while I was still pregnant if this was it or if we'd have one more - they asked ALL THE TIME!

Not yet, but DH and I have discussed if #2 is a boy, we'd try for a third, but that's it!! We've also announced this upfront when we were preggo with #1 when ppl asked us what our plans were for future babies.

If we have two girls, we will have a third. Not because we'd be trying for a boy, but because I think there is a lot of tension and competition in 2-girl households. Not that having a third girl would change that, but I hope it would allow the dynamics to change a bit.

I find it seriously annoying. I will be having two girls. I can't believe the number of people that assume we won't be happy unless we have a boy. Well, actually I love the thought of two girls and we may have another one but we might have done so even if we had a boy and girl. Sheesh.

I was just at a wedding last weekend when a total stranger told me "Please tell me you will keep trying for a boy"! Really? Why do people care???

I could see this happening with the questions, etc. I don't care either way. I have a feeling that we'll have two boys. It doesn't bother me. My MIL is super resentful that she didn't get a girl. I don't want to be like that. I love being a boy mom. LO's awesome. Two's my max.

Yes. People say this to us lots, especially since Mr. T has a farm to pass on. Guess what? Girls can do that. And more. Both Ellie and Lorelei show lots of aptitude for some aspects of what we do on the farm. Neither of us is worried about that at all. Our family is complete. We are happy the way that we are. Enough so that we are planning to take more, *ahem* permanent measures to stay this way. And as everyone knows, having another is no guarantee anyhow. It doesn't bother me when people comment unless they just don't listen and keep pressing their point. Fortunately the in-laws haven't said anything to us on the subject. I had my first person get on my nerves at the grocery the other day. She kept telling Lorelei to, "Tell Mama you need a brother. Tell her what a good mama she is and that she needs to have more kids." Fine-- flattering that you think I'm a good mom. Guess I won't run you over with my cart. But, please, for the love of all that is holy, just give it a rest!!

I know it's probably not "right", but I really really want a girl one day, so we would probably go for a third if our second was a boy. However, I've always wanted a big family, even though I know it would be really hard.

@mrs. tictactoe: There's no "Right" or "Wrong," it's about how you feel! Our first will be a boy, and I am okay with that because I have a big brother and it's a really special relationship. However, I am making it known that I really want my second to be a girl. For us that might mean adoption, which we've been open to since we started dating 10 years ago. I don't think it's right for *anyone* to pass judgement on wanting a boy or girl! It's your business and your husband's business:-). I'm still *so* hopeful for you that your second baby will be on its way soon
