We have wood floors on the first floor of our house, and we are planning to replace the floor vent covers, because right now they are an ugly brass color. I have no idea what color to replace them with. It seems like wood vent covers that match the color of your floor is a popular choice. I also like the idea of metal, but I'm not sure if it would stick out too much. What do you have, and do you like it?

We have light wood floors and white vent covers. I never even thought of changing them when we got our house a few months ago. I like them for now and never thought about it until your question. Although DH wants darker wood floors someday and I'm not sure what would go with that.
ETA: Ok, I guess I was lying. I just looked at them and some match the actual wood color and some are a brown color to match the tiles in the room. But still, they don't stand out very much. I swear they were white!

Ours were just rusty but the floors are down to the nailheads and need to be replaced so DH just spray painted them with left over oil rubbed bronze. It's fine for now and they're not too noticeable.

We don't have floor vents but my parents used to and theirs were dark metal.

Our vents are in the ceiling! Upstairs where there is a pet they are on the floor and white.

Mine were ugly greenish brass metal color and i spray painted them a dark metallic brown.

Ours are matching wood. They are large, so still kind of ugly, but not terribly obvious.

Ours are white. It looks fine because our base boards are white too.

They are brown on the hardwoods and white on the tiles that are gray. There are so many options out there, you can get really decorative ones but I just kept it simple!

Ours are mostly dark metal (we have a dark stain on the floor)
I'm thankful they're fairly thick metal though. In my old house I had these rather flimsy ones and our love seat used to constantly fall into one of the vent holes if it slid a bit on the floor because the cover was super thin.

We spray painted them brown. ha
