We're leaning towards hyphenating, though also 10% considering just my last name.

DH took my name and we use it as our family name, so DS has it as well.

husbands (blech). I wanted to hyphenate, but every single person I talked to whos name was hyphenated HATED it. So.

@bebefly: if your LO feels the same way maybe they'll change it when they're older - DH always wanted to change his last name to his mother's maiden, which coincidentally is the same as my last name (verrry common last name).

We are doing two middle names for our babies with the second being mine, and last name being husband's - so they will be First Name Middle Name My Name Husband's Name. We talked about hyphenating but thought it would be difficult for a little kid learning to write his/her name

@rachiecakes: That's very cool you guys did that. My husband was very open to taking my name as well; but we each retained our own last names.

I kept my maiden name b/c I'm technically carrying on my side of the family, and there has been enough tension with DH's family that I don't want their name. So in our case I think hyphenation is probably the best compromise.

LO has my husbands name, I will be changing my name too, maybe early next year. Socially people call me by my married name but legally I still have my maiden name, I'm just too lazy to do all the paperwork

I kept my maiden name and DS has my name, hubs has a difficult name whereas mine is more common so hubs suggested we give our kids my surname and use his as a middle name.

I changed my name, but my sister kept her maiden name and her son is Firstname MaidenName DadsLastName. Only one last name, but he has the maiden name as his middle name, which I really like.
Dh didn't like the idea that much, so our kids will only have his.

@bpaig: We are doing the same thing. I kept my name, but I would like it on the birth certificate even if they don't use it so we will do first name, middle name, my name, husband's name.
