This is a serious question. DH is fantasizing about a move outside of NYC, and some southern areas have come up (Atlanta, Austin, etc). A serious concern for me is how to survive in the south from May-September--I'm a SAHM and I am out with LO pretty much all day during the summer, and at least once a day for a large chunk during the winter as well. Do you just hibernate in air conditioning? Are there a lot of indoor kids activities? Does everything revolve around water? I was just in Charleston in July and it was painful to be outside between the hours of 9:30am and 7pm-basically all day!
I am a little afraid to see our first energy bill, though we keep the A/C on 73 and I am pretty proud of that because I would prefer 68! We keep all the blinds completely closed all day which we've noticed keeps the house cooler.
