do you ever feel guilty? Right now I'm doing a series of phone shops where I'm posing as interested in a new car. The one I did today the guy was SO nice and helpful and I totally would've bought a car from him. Obviously I'm writing good feedback on my report but I feel guilty that I'm "leading him on"!!

I've only ever done it for restaurants, so never felt guilty.
I was supposed to taste the food and rate it though, and there were times that the restaurant was so dirty there was no way I was going to try the food! -
I did it for my first job, mostly car dealers and rentals. I thought it was so much fun!

I usually just do it for restaurants and have always had great experiences! I don't feel guilty... except for the one time the guy didn't card me for the drink and I had to indicate that on the report - but he was soooooo nice I didn't want to!

I haven't done any else because they didn't want me to bring children, but um..I don't have child care! haha!

I've only done grocery ones. I always got my grocery shopping done at the same time and tried to cater my questions towards things I was actually interested in, so I never felt guilty.

i've done car ones and felt weird about it, i brought a friend for the first one and we made up backstories before we went, haha, she helped me remember all the things i needed to do while there. it was harder than i expected, i got frazzled since i had to shop for one >$80,000 but they didn't have any in stock! i panicked. it gets easier though!

Some of them are fun, and most of them are easy. @Mrs. Pen: Eeek! I bet he got in trouble!!
@mrs. bird: Yeah I did one car sales one in person and decided it wasn't worth the money. The guy called me "kiddo" and brought over "uncle larry, the manager, to explain how car deals worked, honey" GAG!! It was so slimy.

Very curious about this too! Would love a recommendation on where to look for a "safe" place to start this. I am generally pretty leery of online "offers" to sign up to mystery shop.

You should always check a company out with BBB before giving them your information.
I personally have worked with 3 main companies that have treated me well and paid on time - second to none / bestmark / national shopping service. If you want referrals or more info on the types of shops I've done, write on my wall and I'll copy/paste the big hunk of text I sent to a few others who asked
