I hate it when strangers come into my house, even service men! Is there any way you can take a small TV out to your backyard or porch (with an extension cord) and test out the PS3 there?

We've had people come to our house and have also met them in public places.

For little stuff we've had people come to our house (but never in the house, just the garage). We sold a car not long ago, but I didn't want any of them at our house. I think it's me being paranoid that if they give us a lot of money they will come back to steal it, lol. I don't actually like with CL people, it scares me, so I usually make DH.

Yes it happened 4 times. But 1 time we got conned (long story) so we won't be doing that ever again.

I've never sold anything, but for everything I've ever bought from Craigslist, I've gone to the sellers' homes. My husband hates when I go without him, though.

I've gone to others houses but only once did someone come to my house and it was someone I was buying from. I was staying with some friends, so I made sure they were home.

Just make sure your husband is home and okay with it, and that you've talked to the person on the phone (not just email/texts).

I've never sold on Craig's List, but DH is actually looking into selling some things and he said this is number one iffy factor. He wants to always meet at a public place. He doesn't feel comfortable with people coming to our house.

Dh's best's wife sells/buys on Craig's List ALL THE TIME and she has had buyers come to their house and has gone to other sellers' homes with no problems.

Several times, but I always wait to give them my address until the day of, and not until DH is already home. We've sold a fridge, a dryer, and given away a broken treadmill and an old couch, and haven't had any problems.

I've also bought several things that I've had to pick up from people and I've always gone to their houses. Only once without DH, but only after googling the crap out of the address and the guy (he was a math teacher at our local middle school, so I felt safe going there).

I would never go through with a sale if the person gave me a creepy feeling, though. We live in the state where the "Craigslist Killer" was, and I have several family members who are police/detectives who worked on the case, so that really creeped me out!

I sold a bike on CL and had my BF at the time hang out with me at my apt. I don't think i will do it again.

i've had people come to my house, but not really IN my house. i usually have the item outside already. If it were something they needed to use electricity to check out, i would have an extension cord. that being said, i've gone inside people's homes when buying stuff of CL.

i prefer to meet in public places, but i've had people come to us as well. most of the time, i'd meet them outside, but with a couch & with a huge tv we sold people came inside, we were moving so i didn't worry as much about it. if i were you, i'd just have DH deal with them.
