.... When did you actually go into labor?
Just got back from the ob and apparently I'm 1-2 cms and 75-80 % effaced! I'm 35weeks 5 days. She really stressed going home and packing my hospital bag this week, getting carseats installed, and just being ready. She said twice that she didn't anticipate me making my due date. I'm trying not to get too excited/nervous though because I know you can be dilated for weeks.
Also, any general advice for my last 30 days (or less) of pregnancy are welcome!

At 36 weeks I was 75% effaced and 3 cm dilated.
I had my baby a few days shy of 40 weeks!

I was the same way at 35 weeks 1.5 cm dilated, 80% effaced. and dilated up to 2? 2.5? by the time I went into labor. I didn't go into labor until 40w2d!

During my first pregnancy, I went to my 38 week appointment and was 5cm dilated. I spent the night in L&D for observation and everyone thought I would go into labor that night. I didn't, so my dr sent me home, but gave me all these instructions to not travel more than ten minutes away, etc. He even taught my husband how to deliver a baby, because he was so convinced I would go into labor at any moment and deliver really quickly.
I ended up lasting all week, went back for my 39 week appointment and was 7cm and 90% effaced. At that point, he admitted me and did a membrane sweep, which is what ended up putting me into labor. If he hadn't done that, I probably could have kept walking around for a while!

I was 1cm, 90% effaced at 38 weeks and my midwife said the same thing. I even had a few weeks of pre labor contractions. I was induced at 41 weeks. Maybe if I had been more active an walked more, he might have come sooner.

@Mrs. Chalk: wow! that is amazing! I'm curious whether you had contractions or something similar during all that time? 
i was 2 cm dialated for a week or so before going into labour at 39 weeks.

@tysonja: I had a lot of what I thought were Braxton Hicks, but they were apparently doing something! When I was being observed at the hospital, contractions kept showing up on the monitor, but they just felt like that general tightening feeling, you know? I was so shocked when they told me how far along I was!

@Mrs. Chalk: Wow! How did your husband handle that? If the doc told my husband to learn how to deliver a baby, I'm pretty sure he'd hit the floor, lol!
@mewtill: I work on my feet, so I wonder of that's partly why she was so adamant about me being ready...

With my first I was zero dilation at my last appointment and went into labor naturally on my due date.
With my second I was almost 3 cm dilated for weeks! I ended up getting induced at 39 weeks on schedule (I had GD), that stubborn little baby...

@MrsRoo: His reaction was pretty much what you'd expect. He sat very quietly in his chair, turned pale, and repeated the instructions back in sort of a daze.... "angle out and down.... have aspirator nearby...."

I didn't have my first cervical check until I was 36 weeks, but I was already dilated and effaced too. Every appointment my doctor said to make sure my bags were packed because I wouldn't make it to my due date. I was induced at 40+1.

I dilated very early and still had to get induced.
At my 39 week I was 5 CENTIMETERS DILATED and still didn't go into labor naturally.

@Mrs. Chalk: That's crazy! I walked around at 3 cms for like three weeks and it was so uncomfortable. I can't imagine being 7 cms dilated and still not in labor!
