After my DD came along TV was a very nice distraction!
Right now my kids are at school during the day and in the evening depending on how it goes get about 30-45 mins of TV

@Mamaof2: Hahaha...DH wants to use a show to distract our toddler in the morning when he bottle feeds the baby!

@autumnlove: at first it was a lot because a little after she turned 2, we had a newborn in the house! we were so tired and didn't regulate anything - we just needed to keep her occupied and just wanted to make it out of that stage alive. a couple months in, we thought it was going overboard so now we limit her screen time to after dinner.

I let her watch one show a day when I first had her baby sis. It allowed me time to put the baby down and get used to having 2 kids.
But now she gets no screen time during the week and maybe one or two shows on the weekend if we're even at home.

At my lo's 2 year checkup the handouts from the pediatrician say to try and limit screen time to no more than 1 hour a day

@autumnlove: Let him! Not sure if you have the Sprout channel but that's what we watched - its lots of little clips of shows so it keeps their attention!

@autumnlove: Dora the Explorer. Then I introduced her to Daniel Tiger because of a thread on the boards here, and now she loves Daniel Tiger! Those are the only two shows she watches. We DVR them. Daniel Tiger is free on Amazon PRIME, and so are some Dora episodes!

Between 2-3, 1/2 hr a day. At 3, I loosened up a little... But no more than an hour at a time and we don't do it on school days.

@autumnlove: my LO is OBSESSED with Daniel Tiger. And I don't find him to be too annoying!

About 30 minutes max. Maybe 10 in the morning while we get ready (not every morning just if she wakes up early) and then a little bit before bed.
I love Amazon Prime and some of the great old shows they have on there like Little Bear and Mr. Roggers Neighborhood.
