How would you respond if someone that was provided a gift list over a month ago said they couldn't order anything in time and would you mind buying gifts for the entire family and sending the bill?
Note this person is currently not working and is on an extended vacation at tennis camp.

It depends, did they provide a budget for the gift? I figure you can tell them off, OR you can take it as an opportunity to buy something extravagant that will entertain the girls while you have DD#3.

If I could order it all on amazon I would do it and I would include gift wrapping and bill them for it. If it required anything more than that I would tell them they are insane.

I'd definitely be annoyed! Is online shopping an option? If so, I'd help with that just bc I like to shop especially if it's not my own money 
but I wouldn't necessarily be on the hunt for bargains haha. Maybe online shopping and pick-up-in-store??
Or, if I wasn't a huge fan of said person. I'd say nope sorry have plans, you are SOOL hehe.

OK, now that I've had some time to think about it for a second, here's what I would do.
I would force them to give me their credit card information and then do all of the shopping online with their card. Then you don't have to wait for them to pay you back but you can also do it all from your home and don't have to mess with going out to the busy, crowded stores.

@travelgirl1: yup. She dropped a bomb two weeks ago that she was coming to stay with us for three weeks with #3, after telling us she wasn't coming until April....but of course she booked her tickets to overlap when my family is here. Fine. My parents rented an Airbnb to give us more space. AND allegedly her flight was cancelled so she's not coming after all.

I think you should just say no without any guilt at all then. That's an unreasonable thing to ask.
My one other suggestion would be tell them you will take cash and buy a membership somewhere or pay for a post partum doula or a little trip for your family.

Since this sounds like it could be your MIL I would say "I don't have the time or energy but I'll see if DH can. He'll get back to you".
Then have him tell her off. Lol.
The zoo or aquarium memberships would be nice too.

At 36 weeks pregnant, I would have absolutely lost my s*** on this person. That being said, I would ask for a her credit card information so I could make the purchases, or tell her that a membership is up for renewal and she can pay for that.

mmmm I love people who have their heads right up their rear ends.... I think it would be challenging for me to bite my tongue. On the other hand, I would make DH deal with it if it is his beloved family member...

That's a pretty messed up charade she's asking you to play in front of your children. I would politely decline to take part in it. A present or two (even a nice one!) isn't worth it. But on the other hand, missing Christmas and her granddaughters' birthdays once might convince her to amend her treatment of you.

Apparently my grandma sent a check every year so my mom would buy us something. Every year my mom gave us the money and we would write a thank you for the money saying we put it in our savings. I always thought my grandma liked that but apparently she hated it. Either way I had a good chunk of savings when I grew up.

So six presents.
DH told her she could get us a membership or give money.
