I think I'd pick a boy first. I have a younger brother, and I totally agree with you - I mothered him! We're friends now, but he totally resented me for awhile growing up. I would have liked having him older than me!

Part of me wants to say girl, and part wants to say boy. The part that says girl is thinking about the adorable pink everything, and how cute the baby shower would be and the nursery, and just the general cuteness of it all. But I think that stems from knowing I'm having a boy and just because jealous of the cute.

The part of me that wants a boy first is because an older brother will generally protect his little sister, and I wish I had that growing up.

I am having a boy first though, so let's hope for a girl next!

Boy. My husband and I both come from a family of older brother younger sister so that seems natural to us. I live my older brother so much and we really got slog pretty well for the majority of our childhood. Same with hubs and his sister.

I'm glad we have a girl first... I just can't imagine things any other way.... I was a first girl and now Lala is too

DH and I both want a boy first. I used to work retail, and I always say if I get a girl first, I'm returning her! Of course, I would be happy with either, I just like the idea of protective older brother. I had an older brother growing up, and DH was the older brother, so I guess that's why we're in agreement.

Boy then girl.

But since my firstborn is a girl, if/when I have a second, I actually hope it's a girl, too.

Boys. I would prefer to have all boys, I just love being the mom of a boy!

always wanted a boy first, girl last. I always wanted the brother to protect his little sister like I always wished I had an older brother. But it didn't work out that way. My girl came first.

I say girl then boy, that way the girl won't be as tempted to date the brother's friends. My mom used to date her old brother's friends and it drove him nuts.

If it could be guaranteed, I'd like a boy first, then a girl. I have an older brother and I love how protective he was of me.

Also, I think that in general boys can be more rambunctious and daring. So I'd like to have a boy first so, as my first child, I could spend a lot of time in the beginning disciplining him and making sure that he is a calmer and well-behaved. I think girls are naturally (NOT ALL, just sometimes, in my experience!) a little more calmer/less daring than boys.

So if I had a boy first, I could spend that early time with him. If I had a girl first, I think that you are more exhausted and have less time with two children than one, so you'd have less time to discipline/induldge the boy, etc.

I always wanted an older brother instead of an older sister (sibling rivalry - umm, yeah), so I would want a boy first if I knew I would have one of each!

Boy then girl is what I always wanted. But if and when we do get prego if we had a girl we would have the first Grandaughter seeing as my SIL recently had a boy!

I like the idea of a little girl having an older brother, so I think boy. Also, as immature as this sounds, my older sister always gets to do stuff "first". I'd love to give my parents their first grandson
