I think we would consider it. What about you?

We hope to adopt but for sure if we won the lottery!!
We'd probably help pay for my two older siblings to adopt too

It is already in my plans, but I would perhaps adopt more children, or with more significant (expensive) special needs.

I doubt it, for me its not about the money, adoption is great but not for everyone. I dont see myself adopting, unless it was a newborn baby

Oh yes! But I already want to adopt a child, it's just not in our funds.

Our view is that adoption isn't a question of money. In adoption, money is useless if you're not committed to loving a child as your own. We've thrown around the possibility of adoption, but our considerations aren't influenced by financial status.

No cause I don't think adoption is just about the money. You need the time and effort to raise the children too. We just want two kids and if we already have them, I don't see us adding another to the mix. I would just donate the money to a children's charity.

@Weagle: @smurfette: It is an issue of money though if you can't afford it.
If someone would love to adopt and make that child their own and love them unconditionally but can't afford adoption, it is very much an issue of money.
It's no different than families who would love to have more biological children but aren't in the financial position to do that responsibly. If they won the lottery, they would likely have more because now they can afford to care for them.

I don't think so. We aren't planning on it now...I just don't think it's for us.

@Arden: I was just saying adoption isn't an issue of money for us. I just don't see us ever adopting, whether we have the money or we don't. Even if after we have this baby and can't get pregnant again, I think that we would just have the one LO.

@Arden: If you're considering adoption or having a biological child, then you have already considered the financial burdens of raising that child. I'm assuming that the question was asking about the financial aspect of the adoption itself. There are many ways to adopt a child with financial assistance, and fostering to adopt is very low-no cost. Though that could change soon as there has been talk of repealing tax credits that decrease the financial burden of the adoption process.

No, I don’t think I would. We could afford to adopt now and don’t have a desire to do so; so I don’t see just gaining money changing that.
If we won the lotto I would definitely love to sort of “big sister”/”sponsor” older children in foster care though and provide them financial assistance to go to college and better themselves.

We wouldn't. Adoption just isn't something that is in our plans regardless of money.

@Arden: I completely agree with your statement.
We would love to have more children but don't want to put that financial burden on ourselves. We have tossed around the idea of adoption if we were financially able to. You still have to be able to provide for that child after you adopt them. It's not just the adoption costs involved here.

Oh hey - I also want to mention. I came up with this question after reading about the couple who won half of the huge Powerball jackpot a week or so ago. They have an adopted 6 year old and are considering adopting again since they have the means to now. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/nov/30/bc-us--powerball-jackpot-7th-ld-writethru796-to/
