Do/would you still eat there?
DH and I were talking randomly last night about whether we think people would still eat at a place where they worked. I'm talking chain restaurants anywhere from a Taco Bell to a TGI Fridays or anything like it. DH used to work at a Mimi's Cafe and talks about those days fondly. So he would definitely go back. I just hear so many stories about what goes on in the kitchen but never know how overblown they are.

I used to work at an On The Border and I crave their chips and salsa. There aren't a whole lot where I live now.
As for the things that go on - they go on in all restaurants and I never saw anyone do anything purposefully mean (like spit in food), mainly just lazy like scoop the ice with the cup instead of washing the scoop after they dropped it.

Yup! Now there are store to store differences but generally corporate has strict guidelines on how things are made and they had QC checks to make sure all stores followed the rules.

I worked at cheddars and I love their food! Especially the Monte Cristo! I never saw anything bad happen!

I voted no, not because I saw anything gross, but just because I worked there for years and was so sick of it! Also can't help but think about how nothing is actually made fresh--everything is packaged and processed.

I worked at one and have eaten there since with no qualms. I was burnt out on their food for a few years after eating it before/after shifts, but it's been long enough now that I'm fine again.

I worked at Macaroni Grill and Ruby Tuesday. I never saw anything gross at either one, so food-safety wise I'd have no concerns about eating there. I don't happen to eat there now because I just don't really like Ruby Tuesday's food that much (and it is sooooo bad for you), and Macaroni Grill is just really far away from where I live.

@Mae: Good 'ole MG. That was a date spot for couples in college. I loved their bread.
I worked at a Sonic Drive-In. Every now and then I get a hankering for taters tots with cheese and a cherry limeade! It was a fun job.

My sister worked at Weinerschnitzel when she was in HS, and I went there one day to surprise her. I tried to order something but she just kept shaking her head at me and giving me 'the look'. I ended up NOT ordering anything. When she got home she told me that there were pet cockroaches there, and the manager didn't even care. Awesome...
So, no one that knows my sister eats there ever!

I worked at a Ruby Tuesday and I would still eat at one. Hell, I have far worse sanitation practices at home than I ever really saw there, lol!

I misread the choices, so I voted wrong. Whoops. I wanted to say basically I've seen some questionable stuff, but nothing bad enough to deter me. I worked at arby's and I still love it. DH worked for his dad's restaurant(s) from the time he was 13, and we still eat there as often as we can.

Yeah, I worked at Carrabba's in high school. I would still eat there, but DH is super picky and I just can't think of anything he would eat from there! So we never go, but I do crave it a lot!
Not sure if my answer would be the same if it were any place else though!

I worked at dunkin donuts and still get things from there regularly. DH worked at the 99 and it's still a fave of ours, too.

I worked at a Chick-fil-A Dwarf House in high school. (It has both a fast food side and a restaurant side.) Chick-fil-A is still my favorite fast food, so I would absolutely eat there again.
One of my exes used to work at Taco Bell. He would never eat there again, and based on some of the stories he told neither would I!

I used to work at a Chili's - the kitchen/back of house was run very well so no issues there. I just worked there for a few years and got tired of the food.
It's also a lot of pre-made/packaged food and sauces at Chili's. When I go out to eat now, I like to go to nicer restaurants that actually cook from scratch,

Another Chick-Fil-A here....worked there in hs & still eat it. It was well run & very clean so I definitely don't have any issues with their food.

I worked at Hamburger Hamlet (small chain) and I would definitely still eat there although I think the location where I used to work is closed now! Their onion soup was to die for.

@bpcmarj: the chicken bryan is my favorite too! And I had a pasta dish I loved, but they took it off the menu at some point. That was depressing LOL

I have worked at a few different ones. When I worked at the chain pizza place, the management were horrible. Verbally abusive, sexist and did not provide a positive work atmosphere. For that alone I never went back to support their business, but it had nothing to do with the actual food.
I have also worked at subway and I loved that job! The manager was incredible ( I still stop in there to say hi every once in awhile), and the food was actually pretty good! All of the vegetables are freshly chopped every day, we didn't reuse the ones from the day prior. The only thing I couldn't eat knowing where it came from was the steak.

I used to work at Starbucks in college and I still go back to them all the time! I've never worked at a true restaurant, but as long as things were ran well I'd probably eat there as long as I wasn't burnt out on the food.

I haven't worked in restaurants but I've worked in several food processing facilities. I've seen some things, sworn off foods, and then gotten hungry and eaten them anyway.
