With my first, I was working FT in an office and had an official maternity leave. With my second, I was staying at home and so didn't have a maternity lave. With my third, I'll be working part time still - I don't think I have any maternity leave benefits (small company, no stated policy I don't believe) so I'm trying to figure out what I should do. I have a flexible position and know I can take some time off, but not sure if I qualify for any disability benefits. Still really early, but just thinking about what I should prepare for.

I had some sick days saved, up, but the rest was unpaid. I didn't qualify for anything else.

I was full time, but worked for a company that didn't offer any paid maternity leave. So I used my sick days and then the rest was unpaid. I would say talk to your employer. See what they will offer you. I'm guessing you will have unpaid time, but they do have to offer you some maternity leave, I'm pretty sure.

For My first and second I took the full year (thanks Canada!) for my third because she's so close to my second I wasn't eligible for another leave.
My boss has a ton of work right now so I'm actually going to be working at home for maybe 15 hours a week even though baby sister is only 7 weeks. I'll have a nanny here in the afternoons to handle childcare and some household stuff.

My job preserves me all my benefits and rights as long as I'm working at least half-time, so when I returned to work after DS1, I came back at half-time. I will be taking advantage of my full year leave of absence and getting my disability pay and all that, but the pay itself will be based on my current time base, so it will only be 25% of my full-time salary. After that's gone (4 weeks before delivery and 8 weeks post-RCS) and my accrued leave is gone, I will go unpaid for the remainder of my leave. Its not really a lot of money to begin with, but we get super cheap health benefits from my employer so the longer I can stretch out paid leave to cover that before switching to my husband's coverage (which costs 3 times more) the better!

I'm self employed part time, so no paid leave. In fact, I have to pay to rent my office regardless of the fact that I'm not seeing clients there.
We are budgeting for this expense, and can live on my husband's salary alone, so I'm still taking a full three months off. -
Interesting, thanks! My father's law firm is my employer, so I know they'll be flexible w/ me. I'll wait to talk to them until I'm in my second tri, though.
@oliviaoblivia: I'll probably work around 10 hours a week pretty early on. We'll continue to have the nanny and mentally, I'd like to work just enough so that her salary is paid.

DD1 - I took 8 weeks of leave (6 STD) and then worked PT from home. I was in consulting so it was easy to do my work from home and only take on one project. I went back to the office part time after 14 weeks.
DD2- I switched companies and will have a more traditional maternity leave this time. I'm hoping to start working part time from home after my STD is up since it's our busy season, which will effectively lengthen my FMLA time, but not sure if my company will support it or not. I'm hoping to return part time again after that.

I'm sort of an independent contractor so when I don't work, I get zero pay or benefits. So I went back for a day here and there, starting around 9 weeks pp. It was a little hard but it was also good for me to get out of the house. I didn't get back to my normal part-time schedule until about 15 weeks pp. (which for me is 3 days a week).
