Would you pay to get it looked at/fixed or just tough it out for the rest of the summer?

We have an old central air unit and it just went out. It really just needs to be replaced, which we *may* try and do next spring, if the budget allows. In the meantime though, we are debating just going without so we aren't paying to have it fixed for just a few more weeks of use. We don't run our AC daily anyway, just when it's unbearable. We had our AC go out last year and the guy came and charged it for us and didn't give us a bill, but I'm not sure this would be the same issue this year or not...
