DS is sick and only takes medicine from a syringe. The medicine for his age and weight comes with a cup. It says to only use that medicine cup as measurements could be off using a different instrument. What would you do?

I always use a syringe even if it comes with a cup. I just measure accordingly.

I would prob still use a syringe but maybe you can measure in cup, suck up with syringe and then administer as usual.

Measure into the cup and use a syringe to suck the medicine up and give it to the kid. They just want to make sure people are using the right dosage, so use common sense but do what works for your kiddo!

Just as others said - I would measure the dose in the cup and draw it up into the syringe.
I can't see my LOs taking medicine from a cup, but the syringe works great.

You can use any accurate pharmacy syringe as long as you are confident in your ability to measure or convert measurements.

syringe all the way. I even use a syringe for myself when having to take cough medicine - less yucky flavour when it goes right down your throat.

I've been pouring into the cup then sucking up with the syringe- less chance of contaminating the bottle anyway, especially when the dose starts to get bigger than a single syringe full.
But my weird kid loves medicine and will drink it from the cup too now, but refuses to give the cup back and then spills the last sticky drops everywhere. So syringe it is.

In my experience the syringe is more accurate! Especially eith thick medications

Just use the syringe. They say that because they don't want people using a teaspoon out of their flatware drawer, since it's not likely to be an accurate teaspoon measurement.

I use a syringe. If you're worried about it, pour it in the cup to get the correct measurement and then fill the syringe from the cup.

I don't understand how that warning can possibly be true. The syringe seems far more precise in its markings than the cup. We only use a syringe that we get from the pharmacy...they would never take meds from a cup!
