Nope. Before I had baby I was convinced I could never ever stay home.... now I'm feeling more the opposite. Maybe it's just temporary stress or some of the things I went through in the last year that's making me feel differently.

i would probably do something part-time, or ideally we'd have so much money that we could hire a nanny and i could be a lady of leisure. i don't think i could be a full-time SAHM where i actually had to parent all day--so much work!

hellz no! i make a fantastic and happy suzy homemaker. i never have trouble finding things to fill my time. there are plenty of volunteer opportunities to contribute to the world in a manner meaningful to me. but we need my income i dream of a day when we don't.

Yup, I would continue working! Probably go down to 3 days a week though, and hire a housekeeper!

Although my income would help so much, we don't "need" my income so I quit my job and became a SAHM. If we had tons of money I would pay off all my student loans from law school and start over and find a new career that I love...or use that money to start a business with my husband

I would still work. I get so bored when I stay home with LO and he's so high energy he needs daycare or another sibling.

yes, i told DH that if I won the lottery I would still work for fun. I love my job, its my career and I went to school for it.

I would probably avoid putting DD in daycare for the first year of her life, but then, I would skip back to work. Then again, we're already considering this plan because daycare for an infant is outrageously priced in my area. That being said, I love what I do, need the stimulation and professional challenge, and absolutely could not be a SAHM, indefinitely.

If we could afford me to not work I would quit in a heart beat. I would LOVE to be a SAHM.
But, if we won the lottery and had stupid amounts of money, I would open a business for fun (that would probably lose small amounts of money), like a cafe, or used bookstore (or both!).

I'd choose to work less. And I would probably look for more of a passion project than try to make the max amount of money.

Yes! I would do what I really love - teach preschool at a private center. I'd even work full time. But preschools that aren't part of school districts pay beans and my income is actually higher than the husband's so I do the thing that is #2 on What I Love: teach public school

Nope... I'd love to stay home with my kids. I totally want to win the lottery and call in rich!

There are plenty of ways to keep busy "at home" when not employed... and most especially with children... I wish I had time to volunteer as a SAHM, but it'll probably be more of a possibility when my youngest is in school... Otherwise, I need to get childcare to do it. DD 1 will be doing community service hours for school anyway, which means we do it too. I also have 15 hours/semester of school volunteer hours to fulfill... On top of the kids (one in school with homework every night and one at home with me everywhere I go), extracurricular activities, and housework, my plate is full.

I know I would. I do much better when my life is structured. I can't just sit home. There is only so much cooking and cleaning a girl can do.

@kiddosc: "call in rich".... I love it!! That is also my secret dream!

@chopsuey: I love hearing from women who love being SAHMs. I also live in the Atlanta Metro area... Hope to run into you sometime!

We don't need it but I still work . . . only because I think that I will want to be working when LO starts school, and my profession is not easy to get back into. *sigh*

If we didn't need my income, I would stop the bread and butter jobs that I do and try to take on more creative, time-consuming projects in my field. I would also cook many more awesome meals.

No. I *might* work part time, but it would be at a boutique, or somewhere fun just to get out.

If I won the lottery- I might not work for now and kind of figure out what I really would want to do; focus on school, or maybe do volunteer work.
I'd love to travel every year- maybe do a month vacation each summer.

I do work, and we don't need my income to pay the bills. I've had a lot of Mom guilt since I just started a job this week.

@MaisyMay: Oh goodness, no! My hubby & I talk about this all of the time. If we won the lottery, we would NOT work. We love traveling, and just being together that I would LOVE to not have to work. Plus, we live in a 100 year old house that could keep me busy for yeeeaaarrrrrssss!! If husband had to work, I guess I'd still work. I think I'd be bored.

Yep. Our spending is structured so that we don't need me to have an income. I've been a stay at home mom for two years now, and probably would be with any future children until they go to preschool. But I'm eager to transition back to volunteering and then hopefully a half time job in the next year or two - I'm eager to advance my career and to have the intellectual stimulation and a change of pace. Best case scenario would be working two days a week and managing our home the other two days.
I know that my husband would, as well. If we won the lottery, I'd probably continue on with that plan, and I think my husband would stay in his industry, but look for a really, really interesting job. Right now he stays in a moderately interesting job that pays really well.

We don't need my income now and I dread working everyday. Like I seriously think about quitting every time I go in. I think if I had a better job I would love it. Unfortunately I need to work with my depression.
