Ugh. Wet burps, screaming, back arching. So much spitup. I think the terrible burps and arching started around 1 week? The screaming and spitup were probably closer to 1 month. No fun

@SeptMomma12: R started around 4w just as you described. big belches, wet belches, spit up, discomfort after feeds. eliminated overt dairy. by 6 weeks he would arch and fuss after feeds and would like crawl up my chest and claw and spit up became bad. started zantac at 6w and eliminated all dairy. saw pediatric GI speciliast at 8w and he upped zantac dosing and finally saw improvement in discomfort by 10 weeks - spit up is still raging at 6 months though.

ETA - my first son had silent reflux. fussing and crying and refusing feeds, short feeds, taking small amounts of bottle. zantac didn't help him so we put him on prilosec at 5 months.

Wet burps, crying after feeding, hard time sleeping and the biggest one was vomiting what seemed like everything she had just eaten. All started at two weeks. She wasn't diagnosed until 5 or 6 weeks.

She's on Zantac, it tastes gross and we had a big of an issue where she would spit it back out but now she takes it like a pro.

My son had silent reflux. Got diagnosed at 3 weeks. Hungry, but then wouldn't eat much, then would SCREAM. And then would cry because he was hungry. Repeat forever. He didn't spit up THAT often because he was always trying to keep it down. So it ended up burning him both ways - when it came up, and when he swallowed it back down. When he did puke, it was EPIC.

Zantac worked for about a month, and then it stopped working. Pressed for Prevacid and it worked WAY BETTER. He was off meds by 5 months or so. If Zantac doesn't do it for you, press for the Prevacid and try to get a compounding pharmacy to suspend it in a sweet syrup instead of some parents who have to crush up the tablets and mix it with water and feed it through a syringe.

@SeptMomma12: DS had silent reflux and his main symptoms were fussiness/discomfort during/after feedings; small, frequent feedings; bottle refusal (I was primarily BFing but he refused any bottle attempts); and major back arching. He rarely spit up, though. I think we started noticing around 7 weeks. We were on Zantac for weeks 8-11 (approx.) and it didn't help much, even with an increased dosage. We switched him to Prilosec and there was a significant improvement within a few days. We increased the dosage twice and overall, it was life-changing. We successfully weaned him off the Prilosec around 7-7.5 months and no issues since! If you're planning on using formula at all, we've had good luck with Gerber Soothe (they also make the popular probiotics, which we used before we started using formula).

DS had Sandifer's from uncontrolled reflux. Body would shake when nursing (remove the nipple it would stop, give it back it would start again), spit up all the time, colic, couldn't lay flat, arched his back during and after a feed, screamed in pain constant. Once the reflux was under control (he was on an adult dose of Prevacid for most of his first 2.5 years of life) the Sandifer's we away. Throughout the whole thing he actually gained great and nursed constantly, which can also be an indication of reflux. You don't just have to have poor weight gain and feeding, it can go the other way too.

@septmomma12: Gerber Soothing Drops. We saw an improvement after 3 weeks.

@SeptMomma12: Got our reflux diagnosis today. And M has stopped gaining weight like she should . We are on maximum dose Zantac for her weight 2x a day.
