The LO I'm carrying currently has measured 1-2 weeks ahead since the NT scan at 11 weeks. I'm confident with my dates though, so he's just big. However, I've had two friends who were confident with their dates, were told they were measuring "ahead" and ended up having their babies quite early based on their true date, but on time if you considered baby's measurements. I was hoping to expand my sample size beyond 2...

My LO and my belly measured ahead almost the entire time. He was born via cesarean at 40+6 because he was measuring 9 lbs+. He was 8 lbs, 10 oz.

Mine was measuring 2 weeks ahead and born 3.5 weeks early. I was confident in date of conception and he had very minor complications which were a result of being early, despite the fact that he was born at a normal birth weight.

I measured about a week ahead with J starting at the NT scan and was induced at 41+1. I was positive of my dates (late ovulation). He was on the large side I guess - 8lbs5oz (80th) and 21in (97th) with an off-the-charts head.

I was always measuring ahead and everyone thought I'd have him really early. I knew my dates were right but even my husband thought I wouldn't be able to carry him the whole time- I'm pretty petite. I was induced 2 days before my due date because of preeclampsia and he was born on his due date. So who knows how much later he would have come! He was big, and still is tall for his age, just a big kid with a small mom so we looked kinda crazy.

I've measured ahead with all my girls.
My first was born by emergency c-section on her due date. She was just over 10 lbs.
My second was a planned c-section at 39w4d she was only 8lbs10oz.
My third was a planned c-section at 38w4d and she was 10lbs12oz. I wonder how much bigger she would have been is we had waited for natural labor.
So my younger two were early but only because of the scheduled surgeries. I wasn't dilated with either of them prior to delivery.

Yeah, I did. Both mine were measuring huge (2-4 weeks ahead) but I was sure of my dates (and the very early dating ultrasounds confirmed those dates both times).
My water broke early 36w both times, both babies ended up measuring 7lbs12oz.

I didn't deliver early, but he was one day after his due date so I can't complain. And he was on the bigger side -- 8.5 lbs, 21 in.

With my first, I measured early at my dating scan, and they moved the due date. I measured on track to very slightly ahead, and went into labor on 39+2. Baby was on the large side, 7 lb 15 oz.
With my second, I measured on track at my dating scan, a little ahead on my anatomy scan, and far ahead late in pregnancy. I was induced at 39+1 for size, and he was 8 pounds 7 ounces.
So, from my experience, the dating scan was accurate for timing, but not later scans.

With my first, I think I was measuring right on the whole time and she was delivered at 39w1d, and was 7 lbs 6 oz.
With my 2nd, he was measuring BIG the whole time. I ended up delivering him at 38 weeks on the dot at he was 9 lbs 1 oz! He would have been a monster if he went full term. I'm so glad he came on his own a little early.

Wow! I did not expect these results at all. I guess I shouldn't get too attached to the idea that he might come early. DS1 always measured dead on and he was born exactly on his due date at an exactly average weight of 7.5 lbs. I was hoping since this guy is bigger he'd come early and save me the trouble of birthing a bigger baby but maybe not...

I measured slightly ahead the whole time but delivered late with first (8lbs) and was induced at 40w with 2nd (8lbs 10oz)

DS1 consistently measured 2-3 weeks ahead, but I had GD. I had a scheduled c-section at 39+4 but I never had a single contraction beforehand. He was 8lb 13oz at birth.
DS2 measured 1-2 weeks ahead (no GD with him). Again, I never went into labor on my own and had a RCS at 39+3. He was 8lb 3oz at birth.

On ultrasounds DD measured a week ahead. I was induced past my due date and she was only 6lb 11oz!

I measured ahead the whole time with my first and delivered at 40+2. My dr wanted to induce for size but I got lucky and he came before my scheduled induction.
Baby 2 is measuring ahead as well but time will tell when he comes. Expecting it to be after 40 weeks again (I'm 32 weeks and he has consistently measured big).

Mine measured a bit ahead at ultrasounds and belly measurements. Both of them arrived early at 7lbs 6oz and 7lbs even. With my second, I had an ultrasound as my blood pressure began to be an issue. At that ultrasound around 38 weeks or so, the tech said that he was projected to be big at 8lbs plus. He arrived at 7lbs even. We were shocked when they weighed him.

@JennyPenny: Nope. He was "ahead" (I think just on the bigger side) the entire pregnancy and I know my dates because we did IUI. He came 4.5 days late!

Mine measured small and I had them early.
I've had friends measure big and they have had them early, on time, and late. I don't think there' much rhyme or reason to it unless you are induced.
I think babies change a lot as pregnancy progresses and often growth evens out in the third trimester!

I measured ahead with both kiddos 1-2 weeks ahead!
DD was 3 days late born 8lbs 7 oz
DS was 9 days late born 9lbs 4 oz
With both kids the MW commented on how HUGE my placenta was as well, I think between that and bigger babies, I measured big!

DS was always ahead of measurements and he was late. I had to be induced. He was 9lbs, 10oz.

My oldest measured the most ahead (up to 4 weeks ahead). We induced a week early because they were afraid I would need a c-section if I waited any longer. She was 9.7.
DS was about a week or two early and was born just a few days early via induction and was 9.3
DD2 was not measuring ahead but we induced a week early and she was the biggest at 10.1.

My LO1 measured ahead by quite a lot and was born at 41+2 (no induction) and was 8.5lbs and 22.5in.
My second wasn't nearly as big and came early at 38+4.

Four days late after lots of walking the block at home, sweeps at several appointments, and castor oil. Nine pounds.

I'm not sure on dates. So it was an EDD DD measured ahead and I had GD. I had an emergency induction for pre e at 39 weeks. My scheduled induction date was 4 days later. So I voted early but I expect she would have been on time/late with how slowly my labor progressed.

@FaithFertility: your placenta comment made me chuckle because after my first was born, everyone gathered around to check out my enormous placenta. It was so weird. I didn't look Now I wonder if that might happen with #2!

My second son measured 2-3 weeks ahead most of my pregnancy. I delivered at 38.5 weeks. He was 9lbs 11oz and 22 oz.

This is super interesting. I don't remember if DD measured "ahead" and she came at 38w5d.
This pregnancy, DS is measuring about a week ahead and my OB is telling me to prepare for that. I just don't want to get my hopes up.

@gilmoregirl: hahaha yep! With DD she was amazed at it and the thickness of her cord!!!!
With DS she said it was just as big as him

My baby measured anywhere from 2-5 weeks ahead in size and I was 100% confident on my dates bc we did Ivf. I did have almost constant contractions starting at 30 weeks but wound up making it to my scheduled c-section at 39+2 (scheduled due to large size/previous c).

Like @winniebee:, I was opposite to what you're suggesting. With all three of my babies, i measured behind and delivered early.

He measured a tiiiiny bit big but was born 3 weeks early, 5 hour birth. No one knows why.
