What is your reaction?
I try my hardest to tell them that's not a nice word, and then I'll typically hide my laughter because sometimes it's funny! I know, that's terrible but I can't help it

I tell him it's not a nice word and that we don't say that. We say (replacement word) instead.

I just say that's not a nice word, and move on.
But related. I said "Oh Jesus Christ" when I spilled something all over the floor a month or two ago (I was THINKING "Oh FFS, though ;)) and a day or two later Ev dropped one of his toys and loudly exclaimed "Oh Cheez-Its Fries!"

I bite my lip hard. DH usually has to leave the room. DD1 went through a "frickin" phase

I try to ignore it. With DS, if it gets attention it gets repeated. One time he called DD fat thanks to someone's thoughtless comment. I thought I should put a stop to that then and there and told him off - well, after that he danced around DD calling her a little fattie all day Considering where he heard that, I'm totally sure he didn't see it as anything hurtful, and DD is one so she was just enjoying the dancing, so in hindsight getting mad at DS was kind of silly. If he said something mean knowingly... different story.

I ignore. If they don't think it's a big deal, they won't use it. DH can't hide his laughter and then will tell him it's a bad word. Since DS1 gets a reaction from DH, he usually only says it around him.
Ok, I'm not perfect. I've busted out laughing once or twice when he's dropped the f bomb perfectly. And then I glare at DH b/c guess where he learned it????

I ask him to repeat it, then I ask him where he heard it. Then I say that word really offends me.
I explain that it's a word that might offend someone and that there are other words to express himself, such as "insert appropriate word."
