Do you try and get them to lay back down or just get up with them? A has been waking up earlier than normal a few times per week and if it's less than an hour I just have her lay in bed with me. She used to sleep in longer, I miss those days

I might leave her a few minutes to see if she'll settle again, but otherwise I'll get her up. She doesn't wake early anyway, so it's ok.

@Bao: My A is doing this exact thing lately. I was wondering if it had to do with potty training but she doesn't seem to have to go right away when she gets up.
If it's on a weekday I just get her and start the day. Weekend, I ask her if she has to potty and tell her it's still night time and put her back down. It's usually successful.

@illumina: my LO didn't use to wake early but now that she can get out of bed she's waking 30-90 minutes earlier than normal even with a later bedtime. And no naps!

We leave him if he seems happy, but normally when this happens it's because he's soaked through his pjs. He rarely goes back to sleep but i will change him, dress him, give him a bottle and some toys and put him back in his crib.

LO has been doing this also. for a few weeks i could go in, tell him it's still nighttime and he would settle down, but these days he's just up. i was getting up with him, and lately he's been flipping through a book for about 20 minutes before crying for us.

I keep going into his room and try popping the paci back in his mouth to see if I can buy another 20-30 mins. Usually I still need to pump at that hour so it makes me anxious! This morning he started fussing at 6:30, and I popped his paci in 3 times and managed to keep him somewhat asleep until 8:10.

Leave him as long as he's happy. Which is all the time, he likes to take his sweet time getting up in the morning and is content rolling around and talking to himself for up to an hour.

I consider anything from 6-7:30 normal although most often she sleeps until 6:30-7. If she wakes up before 6 I always try to soothe/rock her back to sleep. If she wakes up between 6 and 6:30 it depends on her mood. If she wakes up crying I try to rock her back to sleep because that means she is still tired. If she wakes up happy she can be up. After 6:30 we just let her be up regardless. (she's 9mo)
