This happened today. R tried to get up for the day at 4:30. He was wide awake, didn't want to eat or nurse....didn't want to be rocked....I let him fuss a while and then ultimately did rock him back to sleep at 5:30....and he was up again at 6:30

baby woke up at 6! (he usually sleeps til 730). DH got up with him for a lil bit, but he didn't fall back asleep, so I brought him to our bed and we nursed/coslept til 8!

For DD, when she was younger, yes. As she got older, it seems that once she's up, she's up.

I can usually tell; if she wakes up cranky/crying that means she still needs to sleep. If she wakes up happy and talking right away then she's done sleeping!

After 6 is reasonable enough to wake up for the day, although their usual wake up time is 7. If the kids wake up before 6, we usually end up sleeping in their room to help them fall back asleep. It usually works.
