Mr. Bee does most of the childcare when it comes to Charlie while I do all the cooking/cleaning/household stuff like paying the bills and buying groceries.
If your SO could contribute more to the household, what would you want him to do? More childcare? More cleaning? More cooking?
Instead of Mr. Bee helping out more with chores, in my dream world I'd have a twice a week maid because our apartment gets so messy every day! So I guess more help with cleaning would be the biggest help day to day.

Dh does a lot of work around the house. He does the big things that I'm sometimes too lazy to do like taking care of the dogs and making sure our yard looks great. Since we have been married and I have let him know the things that bug me that he doesn't do, he tries really hard to help me out more. Example: He leaves all of his clothes all over his bathroom. When I do laundry, I have to go hunting for clothes in our closet, bedroom and his bathroom. I now tell him when I'm doing laundry and he gets his clothes for me. It's a little thing but it means a lot.
I wouldn't really ask for much more at this point. We both just try to pick up after ourselves and if we are annoyed b/c one person isn't doing something they should be, we talk it out.

Hubs is good about doing house stuff, but if he were to do more I'd probably ask him to put away laundry. Neither of us are good at putting away clothes and there's usually a mountain of clean clothing next to the bed. We've got to work on that!

@maisymay - i don't mind doing and folding laundry, but i never put it away either! we have at least 10 loads sitting on a table waiting to be put away....

I'd love for DH to contribute more with the cleaning. I don't think he's EVER vacuumed since we moved into our house, and he wouldn't know how to dust - those chores suck. He is good about doing laundry (but he never thinks to wash towels or linens - hello!) and he's good with the dishes, but that's about it, and I think he only does those because they directly affect him. Apparently he doesn't care if we sleep on the same sheets for months straight, but I certainly do!

I do all the cleaning and most of the cooking but my hubby actually does a lot around the house (yardwork, finances, general handyman stuff) including taking care of the baby when he's home so I can't really complain. However, he's also a neat freak so if anything, I wish he would be less concerned about having everything perfect in the house.
BTW, what is it with laundry? I can't stand putting it away either.

I am a SAHM, so I feel I have all of the cooking, cleaning and laundry under control. I prefer not to have help with it because inevitably, something isn't done correctly and I have to do it over again. My DH pays the bills, handles the recycling and the car maintenance.
I'd appreciate a bit of help with the general pick up though. If you see laundry all folded, just bring it to the bedroom or wherever it is supposed to go. I even fold it and arrange it according to where it belongs, so it's not a huge deal to tell where it goes.

We have an agreement that he pays most of the household bills, and in exchange I take care of all of the inside household chores (he does the lawn/house structure stuff). My wish is that I made more money so I could pay half the mortgage, and not have to clean the inside of my house all alone. He hasn't put away laundry or vaccumed or scrubbed a baseboard in YEARS. YEARS! I'm jealous.

Just do stuff without being asked. He's wonderful about doing things if I ask him to, but I hate it that I have to ask. It makes me feel like a nag.

I'm pretty ok with how we handle things. I do most of the cooking and cleaning since I work less hours than he does. However, if he sees something that needs done or if I ask him to do something, he'll do without complaint. He's does most of the yard work and pays the bills. My only issue is clutter-if there's a flat surface (table, counter, kitchen island) he'll have it covered in no time. I like having everything in its place and a place for everything. Especially since our house is tiny.

I would want more than anything for him to plan activities! I have to plan every single weekend, dinner out, vacation, everything. We would never do anything if I didn't plan it and I find it really tiresome that he never puts effort into this. We have been together 14 years so I know he is not going to change at this point. Sigh!

Household cleaning. Even though I'm a SAHM, there aren't enough cleaning hours in the day unless I neglected my kid. So,, I neglect the house instead because I think it's more important to spend time with him.

Putting away laundry--for sure! He does a load now and then, but putting it away is a whole 'nother story. Neither of us are very diligent about that--sounds like it's a pretty common problem here.
Also would love if he took the garbage out; I usually do that task and I don't like it very much!

I would want my hubs to do things BEFORE I ask him to. Or before I become frustrated. The thing is, the hubs is absolutely blind to messes and disorder. I literally have to point things out to him for him to see the mess. It's crazy!
