@mrbee: bahaha we had talked about this and said that the other should remarry although neither of us want to.
Not sure how we would handle the afterlife!

I have already told him that if I were to die and he were to find love again that he should pursue it. I don't believe he should be lonely his whole life just to make a dead wife happy. I would like to think I would be okay with it. I can see myself being a little jealous but where would that get me? I'm the one who told him to remarry!

I wouldn't be sad that he remarried when he was alive (because we all know he loved me the most and even though he was happy in his next marriage he always wished I was still alive), but I wouldn't be thrilled that she was in the afterlife with us. I would want him to choose me, of course, and then his more recent wife would need to live somewhere far away.

I would want DH to get remarried if he wanted to. But, I believe the afterlife is heaven, and I don't believe marriage exists in heaven.

My DH always says there is no way he would ever marry again. While it's sweet, I know he would be very lonely if I were to die and I would want him to be happy so I hope he'd marry again. In the afterlife, he's all mine, though.

I am a social worker in a nursing home. I had a lady that was passing away that hung on for days because she didn't want to choose between her 1st husband and 2nd husband in heaven.
It was so sweet. She said that she loved them both so much that she didn't know how she could ever pick one.

I think since she would understand I was the first wife & she was merely a placeholder, she could live with us, we could all be friends, but if she ever tried to gets touchy feely with DH, we'd have a problem! And obviously she would have her own bedroom, maybe like an in law suite.

I've never thought about this for myself but I did for my grandparents. When my grandfather died my grandmother bought two plots together. She later remarried and bought a plot for her new husband on the other side of her. So, she has one husband on each side of her in death.

Hmmm you know I have always told my husband that I would want him to find another wife if I were to pass away, but I never thought of the after life. I would want to be reunited without the new wife. However I always pictured us old and figured his new wife would also have a passed away spouse just passing it on my grandparents. (this does not handle the situation if I were to pass at a young age.)
I believe in heaven and I can't imagine not being happy in heaven so I'm sure God has this figured out for me before I get there

Hmm, this is not something I've given much thought to because I'm unsure about an afterlife. I would definitely want DH to re-marry, but I'm not sure he would. He's said in the past that marriage is for life and beyond, which is funny because he too is unsure of an afterlife. I'd hate for him to be lonely and unhappy if I died, just because he's afraid of ending up with two wives in an afterlife!

I don't think those kinds of human things matter in the afterlife. Sure you probably still have a connection with your husband after death, but not in the same way. Your eyes are opened to things you don't currently understand in heaven.

I believe that according to the bible, there's no marriage in heaven, so I think we'd all be awesome friends!! If she was cool enough for Wagon Sr. to fall in love with and marry, I figure she'd be our kind of people and therefore I'd love her too!

This makes me glad I don't believe in an afterlife, haha! I do hope that my husband would find someone else if I died (especially if I died relatively young and he'd have to spend a lot of time post-me).

I would certainly want him to remarry, because I couldn't stand the thought of him being alone the rest of his life and have no one to take care of him. I'd like to think that I'd get on well with his ghost second wife (since he liked her well enough to marry her) and that we could split him up or something. Or maybe have some kind of afterlife polyamorous marriage? Who knows - hopefully ghost me is still adventurous.

My husband is inactive Mormon. He was sealed to his ex-wife, so if they die they'll end up in heaven together. Ha, I bet that would be fun! She's remarried now, so I assume she was unsealed from him, but we never got notification of it so who knows!

After being a single parent for a number of years I really couldn't imagine ever re-marrying if something happened to DH.. and I think he'd rather not re-marry either (can't remember exactly). I'm not opposed to him re-marrying though if he wanted (especially if he were still young when something happened).
As for afterlife.... I think I'd love his new wife with the same kind of perfect love as I'd love DH aaaaaaand my focus would definitely be on God & not my personal thoughts on DH or the new wife he had while alive. Kind of makes me sad when I think about it BUT I know when that time comes I'll have a completely different perspective & won't be "me" focused anymore.

I'm not worried about this. If heaven is as perfect as it's supposed to be, then I will be free of the drama and jealousy that makes earthly life sucky sometimes!
