that was my next thought, i am currently googling stains that match ikea's gray brown! my parents are generously purchasing our nursery furniture so i wanna keep the costs as low as possible. i don't know why, i just don't love the idea of a dark finish in the nursery now that i'm attached to the gray brown idea. thanks for talking me down off the ledge a bit though

i'm pulling it together. i will just buy one of the plain wood dressers and stain it. should be good enough and save my vision.

@sunny: it is completely off the website and in my minimal searches it looks like TONS of people are looking for it too. i think i definitely will call the store to save me the hassle of staining, if possible. i will drive to the states to get it if i have to! haha. you just gave me an idea, i am going to search on the US website and see if they have it!

@mrs. wagon: glad you can relate. i hate complaining about something so trivial but i'm SO emotional for some reason. i mean, i'm normally emotional but this pregnancy is killin me haha. i haven't had luck finding one but i think staining a plain pine dresser is a great option so right now, that's my plan, unless i can call around and track one down! thanks for commiserating

she used a combo of stains that looks almost identical to the gray brown to me! so i think i'll try to replicate that on the tarva and hope it matches the crib i'm getting!

@mrs. tictactoe: ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh no. that is exactly what i want to use it for i might have to buy a changing pad and bring it to ikea with me to test it out. that is heartbreaking!!!

@mrs. tictactoe: no i'm totally glad you mentioned it, i would NEVER have thought of it.

@loveisstrange: oh good to know. i might just have to suck it up and find a different dresser orrrr... have to be okay with a changing pad that overhangs a bit.

it's the same depth as the hemnes but it looks like it has a laquer so i'd have to completely sand it before staining. not sure i have the patience for that at this point...
