You are definitly not a terrible mom! When I was a kid our well water was contaminated with ecoli (earwigs had made a nest in the well cap and enough fell into the water to cause contamination as they decomposed!- so rare) and we drank it FOR MONTHS. We were older and no one actually got sick amazingly but for months we consumed ecoli and had no idea. Stuff like this happens... Don't beat yourself up. No matter how careful you are these little bugs have a way of working themselves into the food chain occasionally

It's very easy to get so don't feel bad. Has anyone told you it can be passed through milk? I didn't think that would be possible.

A friend of mine said her baby had it bad and she was able to get a small vile of colostrum from a new mom and her daughter was better overnight.

You are not a terrible mom! Things like this happen. Your LO will recover just fine! The most important thing is you got him medical attention when you thought he needed it. Try not to beat yourself up. No one's immune to these kinds of accidents.

You are not a terrible mom! Omg - I eat raw cookie dough ALL the time now that I'm not pregnant, I never even thought that I could pass salmonella to her through my milk! This totally could have been me. This is a good PSA for me!

As for the blocked tear ducts C had them also about a month ago. She would wake up with lots of yellow crusty puss each morning ... The dr gave me some drops and it cleared up very quickly. I also massaged a her ducts with a drop or two of breastmilk.

Anyway point of my post is .. You aren't a bad mom!!you love and care for your sweet boy and that's the tell tale sign of a superstar mother hope you are all feeling better soon!

@Mrs squirreld: it can come from so much. A paci set on the counter or a toy on the floor. All things that are really hard to prevent.

@Mrs squirreld: birds can be a big carrier. Even washing out their food or water dishes in the sink can bring it in the house.

You are not a terrible mom at all! Accidents happen and all that matters is that now you know what it is and can treat it and be on the mend very soon!

@Mrs squirreld: yes. I only know that because that is how my sister got it as a baby. Our pet cockatiel.

@Mrs squirreld: The wild bird sounds more like the culprit, rather than the ice cream! Store bought eggs are usually pretty safe.
