Contain a poop accident?
We're following the Oh Crap! Potty Training method which dictates a late introduction to underwear (at least a month) so I'm curious if it contains it at all?

@Applesandbananas: Depends on the poop! Usually it does though.

In our experience it almost always did. We didn't have many before she was 100% trained though.

I'm eager to get back to regular life after 4 days mostly at home, but the idea of accidents makes me nervous, particularly poop, so maybe we'll stay close to home until he's in underwear.

When we used panties before, it did. I am sending her in leggings this week so it will contain the poop better then shorts.

@Applesandbananas: I don't have any experience (I am dreading potty training!) but why no underwear? You just send them with regular clothes, nothing under?

Yes. And it's only really gross when it's a really soft poop. We are in undies and not pooped trained so I have a lot of experience here. Also his undies are quite large on him and it has still been fine.

Maybe my daughter is an outlier but no. If she sits down before she tells me about the accident it gets everywhere.

For both my girls underwear usually would, but both tend more towards the constipation end. Is he the sort who usually poops around the same time? That might help a little so you know when you might want to be home if you're nervous of an accident. Or maybe just break from the method a little for outings if he's doing really well otherwise? I don't know much about the method, though.

@Applesandbananas: what really helped us was doing a couple of low key outings to a friend's house to "practice" without any pressure. We would visit with friends who also had toddlers so that it wasn't a major crisis if LO had an accident!

@Foodnerd81: the point of no undies is the author says they are tight like diapers so many kids think they are diapers and have more accidents. You do commando for a month ( I won't do it that long) then introduce panties when get the whole process more.

@Smurfette: @Applesandbananas: Sorry for the off-top question, but will your daycare let them come without underwear or diapers? I'm curious about how the whole daycare portion really works with OCPT...

It always has for E! She is not a mushy pooper, though. They're always solid enough to just roll off

@Adira: my daycare said it was okay... Until he showed up this morning commando.

@Adira: @Applesandbananas: That is the question of the day. I talked to both teachers last week about our plan and neither said a word about it. In fact one said they have had parents do that in the past. This morning the one teacher (one is on vacation) didn't think we could. I went to talk to the Director about it and she wasn't there. The Education director is new so she was going to look into it and call me back. DH is home this week, and working from home, so he can run some panties up there if we have too. Although I don't see why two layers of cotton is going to make that big of a difference. I sent her in leggings so it will contain a poop verses shorts. So I am waiting to hear from the director.

@Smurfette: we are in the exact same boat, except LO isn't in leggings. We have some pants that are like windbreaker material with elastic around the ankles, maybe I'll take those if they're really squiggly about it.

@Applesandbananas: @Smurfette: Good luck, girls! Pretty sure my daycare won't go for it, but who knows.
