@marionberry: My doctor hasn't said how many she plans for us to do. She did say that it may take 3 or 4 IUIs and she is confident that the IUI will work for us. We have a mild male factor issue which is why we are doing the IUIs.

@Leialou: So sorry to hear that IUI was a bust. Seeting a RE would probably be a good thing.

    @Grace: Congrats!!!

@spaniellove: that is so many drgus!! Hopefully they work!

@justdarling: we have mild male factor too which is why we're doing the IUI as well. Our RE said he thinks it could very well work the first time for us. I hope we both get very lucky doing IUIs!
@sweettooth: Thanks. I keep saying that if this one works and it's a girl, her middle name may have to be Noel...since she'd be our Christmas gift.

Hi! It's been a busy few days with holiday shopping, etc. It's been good at distracting me from my TWW. I honestly don't expect anything from this cycle so that also helps keep me from thinking too much about it.

I am really looking ahead to the possibility of our first cycle on injectible meds and probably IUI. But our timing may be poor due to the holidays, depending on exactly when my cycle starts.

  6. kentuckygirl

    pear / 1786 posts

@spaniellove: Wow, all those meds! Forgive me if I am asking too much, but did you have insurance coverage for your meds and IUI?

I am worried about the timing of my cycle and getting meds in time with the holidays. IUI is not covered but the injectible meds may be covered if I get approval. Just wondering if you had to get approval and how long that took. Please update us on how the injectibles go!

  7. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@spaniellove: When do you start taking all of that? Right away? You'll have to keep us filled in on how it goes!
@kentuckygirl: Best of luck on your IUI with injectibles. My IUI is falling on Dec 26th likely, so I get that whole holiday messing with things thing.

  8. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@kentuckygirl: Although everything's been covered up to this point, from IUI on only monitoring is covered. I got the pharmacy to run the Endometrin through insurance since I remembered that their rule was not covering injectible fertility meds and this was a progesterone suppository, which left me with a $125 copay. Running that alone through insurance probably took an hour at the most, although I did read in a packet that getting insurance approval can take a while and needs to be done far ahead of time. They got the meds to me by the next morning so once it's approved and paid for it shows up quickly! Do you know what you're injecting this cycle?

@marionberry: I'm supposed to start this week! AF is showing up later than expected which is really screwing up my start date. But I think it'll all happen over Christmas/New Years so I'm really afraid to make NYE plans.

So DH just brought me the mail & insurance has denied my meds. They said that I don't meet the definition for infertility. I do, so I hope I can appeal but this further complicates our timing. I really will not be surprised if we miss next cycle

  10. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@kentuckygirl: That really sucks that they would do that. Couldn't they just be upfront about whether or not they'll cover the meds instead of dragging an already stressed out person through that? I hope you win your appeal, and soon!

  11. justdarling

    apricot / 452 posts

@kentuckygirl: That seriously sucks. I hate insurance companies!!! I am not on injectables, but am on Femara. I was told yesterday that my insurance won't cover Femara because I did not try Chlomid first. So my insurance company is trying to dictate what meds I should be on! At least my IUI is covered 50%. I am in the same boat that the holidays may mess up my IUI. I am on CD 2 and should have the IUI anywhere from the 27th to the 1st. I'm hoping it is closer to the 27th.

  12. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@justdarling: I'm on CD1 and am guessing I'll be somewhere in that window...although I know it's a really long shot for us because of our MFI, I am really hoping hard for you! And that is some seriously dumb stuff they are pulling with your Femara/Clomid situation. I've always wondered why doctors didn't go directly to Femara with people; now I see why. But I do hope you get ahold of it one way or another!

@spaniellove: YAY how exciting! I think we will be in the same boat...no drinking over NYE for sure!

Having a total freak out moment here! One of DH's blood tests came back with a big issue and the nurse says it's often a false positive but I am freaking out! He's been crying. It's bad. How am I supposed to wait until tomorrow to know what's going on?! Infertility, possible cancer scare, now this....I'm not sure how we drew the short stick but we certainly did. Prayers and/or good thoughts would be much appreciated.

@marionberry: More IUI cycle buddies! I am *so sorry* you are now dealing with this test on top of everything! Definitely thinking good thoughts for you (maybe not positive...) and hoping it all turns out okay!

@spaniellove, @futuremama: Thank you ladies! It's definitely been a rough day but I'm doing my best to hold it together. The lab says we may not have results back until Thursday now so let's hope I can keep my sanity until then. I really appreciate your support!

It looks like there are a lot of us who will not be drinking on NYE. Hopefully it is worth it and we all get our BFPs!!!!

@marionberry: @Mrs.Someone: I finally called and got the baseline u/s + b/w + injection training set up so I'm guessing I might start the meds Friday? They asked if I wanted to come in tomorrow or Thursday and I just couldn't stomach the thought of the wand all up there while I was bleeding heavily (shudder) so I chose Thurs. We should at least have some mocktails on NYE!

  21. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@spaniellove: I had to do all of that on cd2! Somewhat awkward but not too bad. You're lucky they let you wait!

  22. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@marionberry: It's not waiting that long - tomorrow is CD2 and Thursday is CD3!

  23. kentuckygirl

Thanks to you all for your wonderful support. It certainly helped! Today has been eventful for me. I started AF this afternoon. My RE office considers tomorrow as CD1 for me since I started in late afternoon.

After my insurance denied my meds, I called the RE office this morning. They contacted my insurance company who said the meds were actually denied because they weren't preferred meds. So my RE sent them a new request for authorization for Menopur - which they said *should* be covered. I have an appointment on Friday for CD3 ultrasound and bloodwork.

@spaniellove: Excited to have you for an IUI/injectible cycle twin! Hope we end up being BFP twins at the end of this cycle!!!

@kentuckygirl: That's great to hear you have an option that should be covered! Are you doing just the Menopur or anything else? It would be awesome if we were BFP twins!

@spaniellove: I will use a trigger shot and progesterone supplements too. What are your other medicines in your picture used for? I think I read that one of them may ensure you don't O too early, is that correct?

  28. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@kentuckygirl: I think the Bravelle is a stim that can be used with Menopur...I'm not sure why they use a combination. And the Ganirelix like you said is taken for a few days towards the end to keep ovulation from happening too early.

@marionberry: Noel is a beautiful name - I love that idea Thinking of you and your husband. Hopefully it's nothing, and you two are through the ups and downs of health scares.

@kentuckygirl: Glad to hear things are sorted out with the meds and insurance. It's all so confusing. I tried to pick up my meds today and the ovidrel shot was not covered at the Target pharmacy. So now I get to call insurance and figure out what I need to do. Good luck with your IUI!

@spaniellove: Good luck to you too! I hope that this cycle goes well for you! I guess you can go ahead and add me to the Clomid/IUI list. I filled my prescription for Clomid today in preparation. But I'm secretly hoping I don't have to take it Too bad I have come down with a terrible cold and so now it's hard to differentiate TWW symptoms and just terrible cold/cough symptoms.

Here's hoping that all of these IUI's we have coming up in this group result in some BFPs! It's about time!!!

    I'm ready to join in...

@spaniellove: I tried one cycle of clomid and it did not work. I wasn't quite ready to do a higher dose. So after doing oodles of research I'm going to try the Paleo "diet" I don't like to call it a diet because it really is a lifestyle change, exercise, relaxation techniques and supplements to help with my PCOS and get my eggies out!

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@sweettooth: Thank you for the good wishes. We should find out by tomorrow at the latest. We're much calmer today than yesterday but still anxious. Good luck on your IUI too if you end up needing it! I'd love for us all to get IUI BFPs together.
@thereeldeel: Welcome! I'm on clomid for the first cycle this month and man...the cramps and the hot flashes are a lot to handle!

@spaniellove: You're so sweet to keep track of everything! I've been MIA for a while and really need to go through the old posts but the update for me is no IUI at all for now... I'll be on Clomid starting next cycle. We'll try just Clomid alone for three cycles before moving on to IUI (which I am hoping we won't need to, of course!).

Helping my husband grade papers tonight but I'll try to check in tomorrow morning and catch up with everyone's posts!

@marionberry: Thanks! I didn't have any s/e while I was taking the pills. When I stopped though I had serious pains in my sides, which was why I was shocked when my RE said there weren't any mature follies. All that pain for nothing.

  36. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@Trailmix: I got my AMH back today. OMG it was .25. That combined with only 5 antral follicles made for a really depressing baseline appointment. What really worried me was that it wasn't my usual doctor today, and he wasn't really sure about what dosage to put me on! First he said 150 of both Menopur and Bravelle, then the nurse came back and said he changed his mind, then when DH and I were talking on the way home we realized we'd heard her say different ratios so I need to call again. What a mess.

  37. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@spaniellove: I'm so sorry about the news. 5 follicles can still create babies, especially given the medications. And with ivf they'll likely put in two embryos so you could have two kids in less than a year. I have a lot of faith that it will all work out for you. I still don't have my amh results. Since I had bloodwork drawn on a weekend they had to ship that test out. But definitely call to be sure on dosages!

  38. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@marionberry: I called and had the nurse check and they swear I'm at the right dosage. I'm still skeptical, because I've just never heard of taking more Menopur than Bravelle! It always seems to be 2 Bravelle - 1 Menopur, 3:1, 5:1, etc. I'm starting to worry about how they're handling this (the injection training was extremely chaotic) and am just slightly considering doing the IVF at the other clinic that I previously turned down, especially because they seem to be the mecca for women with high FSH. Good luck with your HSG today and everything else!!! I'll be thinking of you!

  39. Trailmix

    nectarine / 2152 posts

@Spaniellove My AMH came back at a .3, so don't despair! It can (and will) still happen for you! There's plenty of people who have conceived totally naturally with lower AMH's than that so really, don't stress over it. Sorry the clinic seems to be chaotic with everything, that would make me worry too...But just be your own advocate, make sure you're double-checking everything and I'm sure it will all be fine. Plus, this is just the practice round before a true IVF cycle, right?

  40. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@spaniellove: Thank you! It seems that both of your local RE clinics don't seem to have things together. Maybe just do as I say to my husband all the time, "try not to be the doctor, let him/her tell us what to do and just go with it". Sometimes they know more than we do...but staying on top of it is good too! I am sure everything will work out and maybe the first time you do this it will work before you even get to IVF. Wouldn't that be great?!
