@spaniellove: ugh crap. I think you're lucky to have a clinic nearby that other people are willing to travel to that specializes in your exact diagnosis. I know it's hard to un-know what you know about that one patient, but it could be the perfect fit for you! Fingers crossed, and do something fun and not allowed during pregnancy today. xoxoxo

@spaniellove: you are the strongest lady I know. What a great way to look at things. I think the iui is well worth a shot. If you need anyone to talk to you have my email. Thinking of you! Oh and can you drink a big glass of wine for me?

@marionberry: I sure will. I'd start now except that I took a ton of Excedrin for my migraine and don't want to fry my liver in celebration.
I forgot to mention - DH says we can have a serious discussion tonight about puppies! This is great news because I always win this one!

@sweetooth: Yeaaaaaaahhhhhhh! He says to please not pick one out yet but I think he knows I will have five picked out by the time he comes home. Honestly I don't even know for sure what breed I want, just that it has to be a boy with some spark and sass to pair nicely with the girl we have now. She only likes feisty boys.

@spaniellove: I'm really sad and sorry to hear your news. That's very disappointing and heartbreaking. This 2WW and whole process is very stressful and draining. Thinking of you...

@spaniellove: Hugs to you! I also wish we were all close enough to commiserate over clams and wine with you. Yay for celebrating your birth and life and new puppies. I am hopeful about your decision to see the other RE.

@bluestriped bee: Hugs to you too. I am so very sorry about your cancelled cycle. I am definitely counting all cancelled cycles in my TTC total...we tried to conceive, we just got closer some cycles than others, unfortunately. However, if I say I have done two IUIs though, that means that I completed them and actualy had an IUI procedure (but that's just my personal point of view). I hope you make time for your resume this next two weeks, I think that sounds like a great plan to keep yourself busy. Hoping that next month is better for you!!!

So I am thinking about joining a local Infertility Support Group that I just found out about. I saw a sign Monday when I was in the RE's office. The leader is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has personally struggled with infertility and is now an adoptive mother. They meet bi-weekly and it seems pretty open (about attendance) and welcoming. I had intended to search for some type of support group since learning about @sweetooth's yoga for infertility. I think seeing the flyer Monday was a "sign." (second pun of the day on one thread )

@kentuckygirl: We had one of those at our RE's office and I thought about going before we got pregnant. You'll have to tell me what you think of it. I would think it would be nice. Kind of like HB but in person.
pear / 1786 posts
@marionberry: I will definitely let you all know what I think. This group isn't sponsored by my REs office, they apparently were just being helpful and advertising it. I think that will be an added bonus to give me insight into other offices and protocols for IF in the area.

Has anyone here done acupuncture? I've been researching it a lot recently and am curious about it. I'm not sure that I totally believe in it, but I am really getting to the point where I'll try anything. Does anyone have any experiences with it?

Our power has been out all day and I've been itching to check in with this group. While I was sad to see some of the updates, I am impressed with the attitudes!
@bluestriped bee: let me know if you need anyone to look over your resume! I've been doing editing work and love that type of thing. My DH always hands over documents to me and I love whipping out the editing pen to help.
@Spaniellove: you know what I have to say about a puppy : ) Pictures, please! I was so bummed to read about your news, but you have a good plan in place. I am so impressed with your attitude.
@MrsCB: I'm hopeful for you this cycle, too! I'm sorry about the job situation--I know that's so hard. The only consolation right now is knowing there are so many other people out there in your shoes. Would you ever feel comfortable asking for feedback from the person interviewing you? I've heard that recommended, although it would be hard for me to do. But perhaps it would be worth it.
@MrsSomeone: oh no. I was so excited with your chart. Those temp drops are killers. Then just waiting for your period to come. That's when I've come to dislike people saying "you don't know until AF shows up!" I think, "yeah, well, I kinda do know what this means. It's over." Ignorance really can be bliss, but I don't know if I can stop now that I feel like I have this little crystal ball giving me peeks into the future.
@Sweetooth: how are the roads looking now? We got snow, but our roads are fine. Good luck!
@Kentuckygirl: if you decide to go, please share how it went! I think it could be really nice.

@justdarling: I have been doing acupuncture for several months and I think it has been helpful. I also take Chinese herbs (via a tea) twice a day. My acupuncturist specializes in fertility and pregnancy. I did get pregnant my first full month of doing it, but it ended in m/c because of other issues. I'm planning on taking a break this next month because of the cost, but I'd probably keep at it if insurance covered the cost (it will again in April). Let me know if you have any questions about it!
@Happygal: I had really high hopes too because of my chart. I'm still not 100% convinced its over, but it sure is looking like it. Tomorrow will likely tell for sure. I'm going to stop charting this next month though, since I hate the emotional rollercoaster, and like sweetooth said, starting the day with bad news really sucks. I spent too much of today being sad because of the drop How are you doing btw?
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I'm doing alright. My temps leveled out for about 4 days, I think, so I wasn't very hopeful at that point. But I started the month feeling very positive. Went and got a Mayan abdominal massage, been doing yoga...was feeling zen and thought that might just do the trick. I think having already decided that we would see an RE if this wasn't a successful month helped me to quickly move on. I like having a take charge plan!
I will probably stop charting after our visit with the RE. It is a tough way to start the morning. I'm glad to have the data to share, but unless she encourages continuing, I might let the thermometer have a little rest and just rely on OPKs.

@Happygal: The last job I didn't get I asked the recruiter repeatedly if she could solicit feedback for me, and she just ignored me :-S.
AFM, I've decided I need some tollhouse pie. I'm debating whether I should make it tomorrow or reserve it until I have results. Either as consolation with a BFN, or a celebration with a BFP.

@MrsCB: That sounds so good! Great way to celebrate or indulge after bad news.

@spaniellove: We've been discussing pugs and labradors. I love the little cutie in your avatar. I also think that naming your two dogs "spark" and "sass" would be fun
@kentuckygirl: I highly recommend an in-person support group. My yoga class was totally like HB in person. At first it took a little getting used to, it's much easier to type all of this stuff out (at least it is for me). But now that the class is over, I have a group of women I can get together with who "get it". We've already gotten together independently, outside of the organized class. It expands the circle of support that you need to get through this. I hope it proves to be beneficial for you too.

@Happygal: Are you in the DC metro area? The roads are okay here. I'm so glad. A lot of the VA offices for my RE closed today. Made me so nervous! But I'm cool as a cucumber now Hope you stayed warm while you were without power today!
@MrsCB: Treats are a must Anytime. All the time

@sweetooth: I hope your clinic ends up being open and you get to be IUI'ed up today! Fingers crossed tightly for you!
I've been up with a major migraine...the other downside of a failed cycle is the hormone crash, which only makes things worse if you already get menstrual migraines.
But...I am soothing myself by looking at some absolutely adorable baby puppies! I think I've decided on getting a Cavachon (Cavalier x Bichon, not too different from our Cockachon)...we had a Cavachon before, when our life was really chaotic and they have such sweet personalities.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@spaniellove: A Cavachon sounds super cute! I had a Cockapoo growing up, I loved her so much. Cavaliers are super sweet dogs. I can't wait to see pictures of your new puppy
Sorry that you've been battling a major migraine. Ugh. Do light and sound make it worse for you? I once had a migraine where I had to keep my head under the covers all day just to make it manageable. I hope that your migraine isn't too debilitating.
The sun is shining this morning, and we're preparing to head out the door shortly! Looks like mother nature listened to me, we had a nice little chat this morning too. So I think it's going to be a good day! Nope, I KNOW it's going to be a good day. What can I say, I'm at the top of the hill on the rollercoaster ride of infertility. I'm filled with hope, anticipation and excitement. I'm going to hold on to this feeling as long as I can until the fear of failure creeps in.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@sweetooth: Yay!!! So glad nature is cooperating with you!
ETA: Oops sorry, forgot to add - yes, light and sound make things worse! When it's not bad I don't care so much but last night I was on the sofa with a heavy blanket over my head. Our lights are pretty dim but they felt like so bright and nauseating!

Hi ladies - I just wanted to pop in to share an interesting resource I came across while consulting with Dr. Google this morning (I know, bad idea, but still....).
Anyway, it is a forum for infertility questions that is moderated by doctors. I don't think any of the boards are super active, but it's still interesting to read some of the questions and their responses.

@Sweetooth: thinking of you today! We're not in D.C, but not too far: Charlottesville.
@Spaniellove: hope that migraine has left and you get to spend the day looking at cute puppies.
@Alie: thanks for sharing that link. Looks interesting!

@sweetooth: Good luck today, hope all goes well!
@spaniellove: Yuck on the migraines! I get them occasionally too. What do you take for them? I used to take Aleve and I felt better within a half hour, but no NSAIDs now so I take Tylenol. Turns out my migraines might have been caused by MTHFR, so hoping they are gone for good now that I'm being treated.
As for me, I'm officially out. I've decided that this next month is going to be just the two of us, and I'm going to stop doing all the extra daily things (charting, moxa, tea, etc). Its just too taxing. Sad that I'm going to stop acupuncture, but I just can't justify paying for it. I might go back next month when insurance kicks in again. I am going to buy the Circle + Bloom meditations though, hoping that will help get me in a better head space this month.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I'm sorry. I thought that your chart was looking promising. I think taking a break from all the extras will be helpful. I hope the one extra you keep is HB--I like seeing you on here. I've seen talk about the Circle + Bloom here and checked it out online. It's interesting! I think if I get a BFP, I'll buy for the pregnancy to help keep anxiety away.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Happygal: Thanks! I will continue to be here on HB, but I probably wont join a POAS thread again (this past month was the first time I did in a long time).
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Sorry AF came. I think it's a good idea to take a month off here and there though. Glad you'll stick with HB in the meantime.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I'm so sorry you're out for the cycle. But I hear you on needing to trim out the extras and refocus. For the migraines I take Topamax daily (it's also for my seizures) and as needed I take Excedrin Tension Headache (no aspirin) since I can't take Imitrex due to my migraine type or NSAIDS like you.
Talking about something, anything other than babies/TTC with you guys has been refreshing. I feel like we need that in this group now and then.
I'm not sure we're going to go back to the hard-core IF treatments. IUI, maybe. Probably not IVF. Besides being expensive, it's been really hard on my body and I've been in denial that all the stim meds bring me that much closer to the early menopause that is already coming for me.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@marionberry: Thanks. We're still going to be trying, but I need it to be less all-consuming.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@spaniellove: just curious, when you say you can't take Imitrex because of your migraine type, what do you mean? I take Relpax, but my insurance made me try Imitrex and I hated it... it made me feel shaky and clammy, and didn't get rid of my migraine. Any news on the puppy front? I was looking at old pictures of my dog and it made me want another puppy sooo bad. That puppy breath! (not the accidents though, haha)
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Shutterbug: I can't take triptans because I get complicated migraines (technically hemiplegic migraines because of one-sided weakness/numbness or loss of speech but basically anything with aura). A lot of "miracle" drugs meant to relieve migraine immediately without being narcotic/opioid pain relievers are triptans. They constrict the blood vessels, and in certain migraine types they can be a stroke risk. And yes, we are getting a puppy! It's my birthday present to myself! I have two I'm deciding between!

@spaniellove: so sorry to hear your news. i haven't logged in in awhile because was taking a break before my ivf cycle, which starts next week, but i was hoping to hear positive news. I hope I can be as strong as you have been throughout the cycle, and I am glad to hear that you are taking active steps forward.
To everyone else--I miss you and am thinking of you ladies! Will be back next week once I start injecting again. I have enjoyed focusing on work and house hunting for the past few months. But it's time to break out the big guns!

@spaniellove: I'm so glad for this group, everyone just gets it. I hope your next cycle is less stressful too!
