What are your thoughts on inviting guest's kids to a baby shower? My initial thought was yes, but now it's kind of adding up to be a lot of kids! Just wanted to hear some opinions, as I have no idea what's appropriate here

Are you the guest of honor or the one throwing it? I think it depends on what the guest of honor wants?
In my case I definitely wanted all our nieces and nephews there. We ended up having 6 kids.

It depends on the venue and the guest of honor, but I say yes to kids at baby showers. But it certainly works better at a home shower or private room than something in a restaurant, and it depends on the kids.
I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. For me I wanted them there at mine and was a little disappointed that my friend didn't bring her baby (but understood its easier to travel without!)

It's my shower:) I'm working on the guest list now. My nieces will definitely be there... I'm more thinking about friend's kids

@MCD919: If you want them there I would ask whoever is hosting (paying) if they are OK with inviting kids too since it will certainly add to the overall cost of the shower. If they are OK and there's room at the venue then invite away!

for my wedding shower we had no kids, as there were no kids at the wedding either.
for my baby shower we had 4 kids there. they just hung out in the hall playing with the gift bags i had given them, they were 5-7 years old

Definitely ask the host. I had to ask the hostess of one of my baby showers (MIL's friend) if my friend could bring her 2 year old daughter because they were coming from out of town and no one could watch her. The hostess FREAKED out on me and tried to tell me no. I eventually got my way but seriously, always ask, never assume :).

I had my friends bring their kids! My mom threw the shower and she had blocks and stuffed elephants as the table center pieces, so the kids ended up playing with those. She also got kid-specific favors for the kids. And one little girl helped me open up my presents. I enjoyed having them there! Plus I knew it made it easier for my friends to be able to come if they could bring their kids!

We didnt invite any kids to our shower, but if a parent couldnt find a sitter then we allowed them to come. Parents were happy to be baby free for a couple of hours. My sister bought her newborn because he was being breastfed and my cousin brought her daughter and it was totally fine with us.

I think a baby shower is a great place for kids, moreso than a bridal shower, etc. We had them at mine, and while they were running around screaming the whole time, I know the mamas appreciated being able to bring them without having to get a sitter

Thanks ladies... I talked with SIL, who's hosting, and she agreed it's fine to invite them. It will be about 4-6 kids plus my 3 nieces, and that's if they all come. I think it will add to the fun;)

@MCD919: yay! I personally love kids at baby showers. Er...that's kinda the whole point right? Showering someone who's having a baby? hehe

We didn't specifically list them on the invites, but they were welcome to come with their moms. I didn't want my guests to feel like they were obligated to bring their children (some moms wanted to have a free afternoon to spend with girlfriends) but I didn't want them to feel like a burden if they came. We had maybe 5-6 kids at my shower and we had some coloring books and bubbles.
