I absolutely would. As a parent, you know as well as anyone that sometimes you need the option to pick something out yourself way more than another item that you don't need. Toys are more fun, of course, but she won't really know the difference and I'm sure her parents will appreciate it.

I'd say go for it. At that age they aren't going to be disappointed by not opening something haha. And that way your friend can choose a time when it's right for there to be *another* toy, ya know?

I think that's a great gift. If they really don't need anything, can you take the kid for a day of fun? To the zoo or the museum or the library or the park?

Yup, I just started doing that. I gave a practical Target card so my friend can always just use it on grocery or other home stuff if she wants. They have a TON of toys and stuff already so I seriously cant imagine her getting anymore. And the older one is the same gender so plenty of hand me downs too.

I think it's an awesome idea! If you're worried about her not having something to open, maybe get her a really cute birthday card that sings, those are always so much fun!
