@autumnlove: I could see her rebelling.

@.twist.: I think Jinger is going to be the one to rebel!

Totally talking out of line here, but I wouldn't blame Jana for feeling resentful for taking care of all her younger siblings throughout the years. I don't think she (or the other, older kids - mostly the girls) really got to enjoy their teenage years. But that is totally just my opinion. For the most part, on TV, they seem really happy.

@TemperanceBrennan: oh, you know what, I think I am thinking of Jinger. I can never get their names straight. Hahaha

@TemperanceBrennan: Yeah, she is probably a little sad that Jill and Jessa are leaving....since the older boys don't do much caring for the younger kids!

I didn't watch it but I'm wondering about the older boys. Is there any talk of them courting someone soon? It seems like the show is centered around the girls.

I love the Duggars! I thought Jana seemed sad too. She's the oldest girl, and watching her sisters find men and get married. In their culture, there's a lot of pressure to find a mate and procreate. She's still young to most of us, but I'm sure she's feeling a little sad/resentful/jealous/desperate/pressured.

@photojane: I think she is 23 or 24? So young!

@autumnlove: I went to a Christian college and in that culture the pressure to get married and have kids right away is real and it's intense. Girls who didn't have serious boyfriends or engagements by junior or senior year were distraught. There were always jokes about "ring by spring" and getting our "MRS. degree." I'm only 26 and nearly all of my friends are married, many with two kids already! We're not even fundamentalists and there's pressure... imagine being a Duggar! In the Duggar world of the quiverfull lifestyle that pressure to marry and procreate young is WAY more prevalent & intense. I really feel for Jana!!
