I was thinking of registering at both Target and Babies R Us. Babies R Us has a bigger selections it seems but it out of the way for everyone to drive to. Should I just stick with Target since it's closer?
Help!

I had two, one at Amazon for my web savvy friends and family and Babies R US for the last minute buyers and for the people who preferred buying in person.
I think 2 is good! Anything more might be too much!

We did two, at Target and BRU, also. I found that most people shopped at Target, and I had to do a lot of monitoring and updating the BRU one to avoid duplicates. In our area the Target and BRU are next door to each other, and we only had 2 people buy off that registry. If I had to do it over again, I would just do the Target one.

I think having two registries is a good idea. Having a store closer to all (Target) may ensure that more people buy from your registry, especially for those that don't like to order online. But I also think that having another option, and another store/list (with the options that aren't available at Target), is also a great idea, too.
Now if there was just a way to make sure folks ordered from your registry.

@MsLipGloss: Haha, I know right?! It seems when it comes to baby showers people just go crazy and get whatever THEY like! I've been to some that about 90% of the shower was clothes....Ahh!

We registered at both of those places. I think variety is good.

We will probably to two. But not at such similar stores. We will do Target OR BRU, and then in addition will probably do pottery barn kids.

I had both Target and BRU - and almost everyone bought off my Target registry (only one bought off my BRU one). If I had to do it again, I wouldn't bother with BRU - the completion discount has a lot of exclusions (the exact same as the 20% off coupon you get every month if you're part of the rewards club).
I did create an Amazon registry as well - no one bought anything off that one, but the prices are so much better that I'll be taking advantage of my completion discount and getting a lot of the "last minute essentials" from there.
Also, beware the "online only" items at Target - I'm finding most of them don't qualify for their "free shipping on $50 or more", which also makes Amazon so much more awesome.

We used myregistry.com because you can register at for things at lots of different stores (including etsy and amazon!)

I had two and think two are a great idea. Only two people bought from my brick and morter store (BRU) everyone else bought stuff from Amazon.
I do have to give props to BRU. I found the one near my house was horrendous but I went to one a little further away this weekend and the staff was super helpful. They even took back a book I had been given even though their register said they don't sell it!

I was the same as @autumnlove and @mediagirl - I wanted Amazon because they have everything and BRU for all the folks who might want to go to a "real" store.
