DH and I are growing our family through embryo adoption. I have lots of friends with LOs, but I don't know anyone who has adopted. If you are adopted or if you adopted a child, do you think it is important for any future LOs of mine to know kids who are also adopted?

No personal experience, but my former neighbors adopted outside of their race (from a SE Asian country) and are part of a little group of families who all adopted from the same country. They even go on regular vacations together to this country so that their children understand where they are from and have a grasp of the culture. I think it is especially important to them because we live in a city (even a country) that is not very ethnically diverse, especially when it comes to people from SE Asia.

@leialou: I think it is important. As Zay's parents, we have no idea what it feels like to be adopted and at some point, we anticipate he'll benefit from knowing other people who are, just to connect with others. We all like finding people we have things in common with, so we assume he will too. We haven't made an effort to seek out any groups for adoptive families because we have adopted family members, but it is something we may do in the future.
I feel like it's the same as when people tell us that we need to make sure he has a diverse circle and we have to make sure he's exposed to all cultures.
And tbh, finding other adoptive families will help you as parents too. You'll be going through the same baby care steps, but you're still coming at it from a different emotional angle. Talking to other adoptive moms who have been there will definitely be a comfort for you, especially if you have questions that a mom who hasn't experienced adoption just can't answer.
