If you have a Fitbit, how do you like it? Do you find it's accurate and that you actually use it? Any better options to Fitbits out there that you recommend instead?

@serenity207: I loved mine, but my version didn't count the steps I took while pushing the stroller!

I love mine and it seems accurate! Not sure how I would really check though.

Mine seems accurate (or at least consistent) as long as the battery isn't super low. I have a flex. I check it by walking a bit then syncing with my phone.

I found the mileage to be inaccurate when I wore it for runs. Compared to my Garmin that I also wore/the mileage I knew I was going based on it being a familiar route, it was a half- three quarters of a mile too little. I was training for a marathon so mileage accuracy was important to me, but if you don't care about specifics like that I think it would be fine!

I'm considering getting one too, but I've heard that it only counts steps if you're pumping your arms. Is this true? Like PP said, that wouldn't couldn't stroller walks ( which are most of my exercise) or all the steps I walk up and down doing laundry. I haven't done much research yet though. Maybe the different models can solve that.

I think it's pretty good. It's accelerometer based so it isn't perfect but I find it does a decent job measuring even when my hands are engaged. You can also calibrate it to your stride when walking/running to improve things. I sometimes get steps for things like folding laundry when my arms are active even though I'm not walking but as a whole it encourages me to get up and move more.

It depends on why you want it. If you want it to encourage more activity and give you daily goals to work towards, then do it! So great for that! If you want it for something intense like marathon-training, per @ChiCalGoBee:, you'll probably want to go a different route.

I bought the Garmin version - the vivofit. I liked it, but syncing was a huge issue. It never worked on my phone and it stopped working on my computer a few weeks later. I called and complained but no luck. I saved $10-$20, but I wouldn't recommend it. If I had to do it again, I would get a fitbit.

Thanks all! I'm glad to hear such positive reviews for the most part. Definitely not looking to train for anything big so looks like Fitbit would work for someone like me.

I have the Fitbit Up, I really like it! I was using the Samsung app on my phone, but don't have my phone on me all the time. It is much more accurate than my in phone app, which was doing double counts at times. I also like that it tracks my sleep. I can easily tell how often my little monster woke up at night and when It also can give me goals, like drinking more water, upping my step average, and setting an earlier bedtime.
I have checked the calibration on it multiple times and have found it to be accurate. I don't wear it on my wrist though, I clip it on my pants or onto my shoe.

I'm interested in everyones opinions. I really need to start walking more, and I think fitbit will help encourage me.

I really like mine and find it to be quite accurate. I do find that it doesn't work as great when I'm pushing the jogging stroller, so for those times I actually put it on my ankle and find it just as effective (even though Fitbit doesn't encourage it). I find that having it keeps me super motivated and pushes me to achieve my 10,000 steps a day goal.
