Ha, my MIL likes to bring up her dominant genes.

My mom likes to say that E has blue eyes like my dad. Or, you know, like her mother?......E mostly looks like me, but every now and then, damn, she looks just like DH.

@loki, it might not be too strong! I'm 1/4 korean and i inherited a lot of my mom's eye shape but i heard very often growing up that i look like my dad, too!

Not really. It's kind of a slam dunk for DH's side.
MIL likes to take credit for every accomplishment DD has... she's musical-that's from my side!.... Noit's not with, you (and your son) are tone deaf.

The feature that makes my son resemble me the most is his loud voice, lol. When you hear the volume he speaks at, he could only be my child.

Looks wise, he doesn't look like either of us.

@blackbird: ya it's kind of a mystery what the babe is gonna look like! my dh has a cousin who has three boys that are all blond hair, blue eyed... and they're all a quarter japanese too! so the baby could look exactly like me. the whole family will be disappointed haha.

No, my parents don't care about stuff like that and my son does look a lot like my husband so my in laws like that. His gentler features are mine though so I think he's a good mix. When he was born he looked a lot like me and everyone said that except my mother in law of course. Maybe she saw something everyone else missed early on because he sure does look like daddy now!

My cousin's two kids are pulled every which way. His youngest was a spitting image of his mom/ my aunt when she was first born. As she grew up she started to look more like her own mother's father's side. Don't say that within ear shot of my aunt! LOL

DH's grandmother is always saying stuff like, "LO looks just like his grandfather. He had blue eyes." Umm, yep so does his mother. "LO is just like his grandfather. He had lighter hair." Yep, so does his mother. She does this with EVERYTHING including things like, "LO is just like his grandfather. He liked cheese." I try not to let it bug, but some days it does.

my mil says dd is a "chameleon" and looks like whoever is holding her at the time, haha. she really looks like a mix of both of us so it's not contentious!

I think E looks more like DH, but it's hard to get past the red hair.

@ShootingStar: That's fun! I'll have to dig out a picture of me to compare. You both are even sucking in your bottom lip the same way!

My dad thinks it's funny that his 1/4 Chinese grandchildren aren't very Asian looking. They all have blue eyes. My DD even leans somewhat strawberry blond in the right light.

C looks just like her Italian daddy. She has a couple of my features, her eyes are bigger than DHs and she has curly hair, but she mostly looks exactly like him. They have the same eye color and it's looking like it's going to be hair color too. Her's is MUCH darker than mine was at her age.

This is both of them at age 1. Yeah.... lol

There is no denying that from the beginning DD was a splitting image of DH, everyone (even strangers) commented on it. She's fair skinned, light hair, and just his twin. She does have my big eyes, DH has more of a squinty eye. I'm really hoping DD2 will have dark hair like me

There is no contention, but everyone says C looks like Dh- and they are right, she definitely favors him more. As she gets older I think she is starting to look like she came out of me at least but it's hard to get past her coloring and big forehead, just like Dh. The resemblance is even stronger when you look at pics of Dh as a baby. It's ok. He's pretty good looking.

But no, no one gets pissy about it at all. She's beautiful and got half her genes from each of us.

Everyone says DD looks like DH and I don't necessarily disagree BUT when I look at her I see a mix. I actually think my MIL tries to say she has "my coloring" to make sure my feelings aren't hurt! I am pretty lucky to have a nice MIL!!

But just for the record this past weekend a stranger said DD looked like me!!! Of course DH wasn't with us,... but still.... it counts right????

I don't think LO looks exactly like either one of us, and I guess our families don't either because they never say anything like that.

DS has fair skin and light hair. I have fair skin and hair and DH has olive skin and dark hair. According to my MIL, DS has his uncle's (DH's brother) fair skin and hair...not, you know, mine!!! When was he part of the conception process??Haha. But it really actually pissed me off when she said that, haha.

It's not a contentious issue, because they look SO MUCH like DH"s side of the family. Like, so much. It's kind of creepy, actually:)

DH's family says all three kids look nothing like me! Uhh, 2 of them look similar to me as a baby/child. My first daughter acts and looks like DH though.
