We've always only had one girl name and one boy name and we got to use both!

I guess?! I suggested it when I found out what DHs grandpas name was. It was like years before we had kids. Had I never heard his name we would have picked something else as its a super uncommon name.
For girls my top pick is Poppy and I'm not sure if DH will come on board!

DD1: no, but now I can't ever remember what my first choice was. Her first name is after a relative but her nickname totally suits her, people tell me all the time.
DD2: yes!

It was DHs first, I had to explore other options but ultimately I had to meet her reform naming her and agreed with DH.
ETA because her name is so uncommon I was not 100% sure. But I love it, we get tons of compliments and it suits her.

Sort of - My initial first choice ended up being a name of one of DH's exes! Since the ex is married to a current close friend of my husband (that sounds like way more drama than there was) we thought it would be weird to use the name. Since we both liked the name, we ended up using a shortened version of it (the original was a VERY long name) as LO's name. I'm very happy with the choice, and LO will have a much easier time learning to write/spell her name!

@mrbee: Sort of. DW was leaning toward using her family name (William) and I loooooved Theodore. Both of us would have been ok with either one, but then we jointly decided on Cooper when we found out for sure it was a boy. Started out as a joke (that's the name of our fertility doctor whom we love) but then we were both like no .... That's truly his name! Done and done!

J's name was the name I had since basically I found out I was pregnant. It just came to me and was perfect. DH had a few other suggestions but they just didn't sound right and he agreed.

Nope.
Boy names were a no brainer...so if we had had a boy I would have gotten my first choice.
Alas - we were blessed with two girls. Both names have not been either DH's or my first choice - DH came up with both and I agreed to them.
They both have my choice for a middle name...
