Is your name hard to pronounce?

My first name is not--Sara (however, it is misspelled often). However, my last name is butchered often. And, it truly is easy to pronounce...it is a combination of two letter blends.

Easy to pronounce, but hard to spell.

    My first name is easy

My last name is hyphenated. When they are spoken separately, super easy to pronounce. When you add the hyphen in between , suddenly it's super difficult for some reason.

My first name is usually mistaken (it's Elaine, but I get a lot of "Ellen" and "Eileen"s.) my maiden last name was simple, although people often wanted to put and -sen instead of -son when spelling it. My married name is easy to pronounce once you know how, but it has a lot of vowels (French) and it constantly gets butchered.

Pretty easy. My maiden name was hard over the phone though. Too many soft consonants.

My first name is fine. My last name takes explanation. Frenchy sounding. Rhymes with Chevrolet.

@Fronkinzankinsbride: Haha aww...does it make it any better that I try really hard, and keep cheat sheets so I get it right??

And really, I have an easier time with Polish names that some others...the office I work at sees a fair amount of refugees from all over the world, and I completely butcher some of their names. I'll be calling the refugee caseworker and will sometimes ask if I'm close at all, and her response is usually a "uhhhh....."

My first name is easy but people rarely pronounced my maiden name properly. I miss it but it's nice having an easy name to spell now.

My name now is so easy! I'm a Molly and my married last name is only 4 letters, one vowel, super simple. My maiden name was a smidge more difficult - the vowel team didn't follow the rule (the first one does the talking).

My maiden name is. It's German and has a silent D that people never know what to do with. Now I have one of the most common last names, but I kinda miss my maiden name.

My last name is apparently. Simons has 1 m so it is not pronounced "Simmons" but everyone says it like that anyways.

Oh and Zuma is hard for people to pronounce too. Zuumie and Zumba are the ones people usually call her

    first name? no

Last name? Yep - everyone messes it up!

Last name is a very common French last name, but English speakers pronounce it the English way, and the German speakers mess it up too.

My first name and maiden name are super simple. Americans never mispronounced it, but my Spanish speaking friends have trouble with the vowel in my first name.

But married last name is impossible. It's pronounced totally differently from how it's spelled, because it's not English. I don't blame people for pronouncing it phonetically. I answer to anything.

Yin is easy enough to pronounce, and my married last name is a very common first name for a boy. I've had someone actually try to put an Asian spin on it, which was hilarious.

Ha. When they were taking attendance in school, if the teacher started to scratch their head and stutter, I knew they're about to call me. It's a foreign name and seems to be very hard to pronounce in English.

    First name - nope

Last name - yup, both maiden and married. Not necessarily hard to pronounce, but it gets mis pronounced all the time.

    Nope. Kaitlin.

My maiden name people used to mispronounce all the time.

People also mispronounce my married name, but not as often or badly lol.

@BabyMats: I primarily go by my middle too (although now I started to use my first because it's less complicated)

My first name IS hard to pronounce
But my middle name (which I go by) is a mouth-full. It's not hard but just long.
My last name gets pronounced wrong too, but I don't know why because it is pretty straightforward.

First name no, my maiden name was super hard to pronounce but not anymore now that I took DH's last name!

Mine is so straight forward but people still say it wrong!

My name is Charity but I've been called Chasity/Chastity a lot, I've always hated it. I chose simple, easy to pronounce, hard to mix up names for my kids.

Our last name gets an N added in the middle a lot. It doesn't bother me.

  25. Smurfette

My first name is super common, but just spelled different. No one could pronounce my maiden name correct first off. My last name now is super easy and common.

  26. AprilFool

My name is easy but is pronounced differently in Oz than the states so every time we visit I have a new name haha.

My maiden name was extremely easy, pronounced exactly how it was spelt, and yet no one could ever get it right!
