Apparently she suffered cardiac arrest during a surgery this afternoon. She wasn't my favorite, but it's definitely still sad. I can't believe she was 81!

She is a tough lady, I thought she would have pulled through but as time went on I felt like it was less likely. She lived a good eventful life. Hard to believe she was really 81. RIP.

@photojane: She had a minor surgery a week ago, suffered a stroke and heart attack, stopped breathing, and then rushed to a hospital. She was in ICU for a week in a medically induced coma before being taken off of life support.
Even though she said some dumb things later in life, I'm sad to see her go. She did a great documentary about her life in 2010. Joan had great hustle working hard throughout her life. I looked forward to award shows for her commentary. My thoughts are with her family.

I always felt like she was going to be one of those ladies who lived a loooong time. Crazy how fragile life is and how everything can change in an instant. RIP

@photojane: Here's the ONTD posts on her: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/tag/comedy%20%2F%20comedian
I really hoped that she would have pulled through. It was much graver than originally thought last week. Prayers to her family.

I love her.
She's pretty much the reason I own a television. I don't watch anything except Fashion Police and the local weather.
It will be a really sad awards season. I miss her already.

@Mrs. Bee: I totally agree. That documentary was pretty powerful. She had so much energy and hustle.
I think people forget that she was a pioneering female comedienne. She paved the way for people like Sarah Silverman and Kathy Griffin.

It makes me sad, I think although she was crass, she was an incredible woman and had an incredible career, 50 years in the business is just incredible. She was ahead of her time for women that's for sure. I will miss Fashion Police with her, it won't be the same that's for sure.

@rachiecakes: I got rid of cable for more than a year and when we got it back, I couldn't think of anything to DVR that I used to record other than Fashion Police!
I can't believe she's gone! Truly an icon in the comedy and fashion world!! So sad.

She was a true comedic genius, and such a hard worker!
I was blown away by her counter-roast at her own roast... so many of her jokes were improvised in response to things the other roasters had said. What a creative force!

@Mrs. Bee: what is the name of the documentary about her? I would love to watch it!
